Roller shutters are doors that roll into the box above the garage door, like shutters. With a garage door you don’t need a place on the ceiling, so you can use that space as you wish. Roller shutters usually require a slightly larger amount of clearance above the door openings (lintels) than sectional doors. If you want an automatic roller shutter with an engine (which is nowadays more or less the standard requirement for all doors), the roller shutter door is installed in three ways. Sectional or segmental garage doors
Sectional garage doors are made up of several segments 50-80 cm wide. Each segment consists of two, mostly steel, sheets between which is a polyurethane core. the thickness of each segment is usually 40 or 42mm. Thanks to this, sectional doors have very good thermal and sound insulation. At the ends of the segments are wheels that slide on the guide when the door opens or closes. When they open, the door rises under the ceiling of your garage. To be able to install sectional doors, your garage must meet some requirements. You must have a minimum of 20cm and more (depending on the door manufacturer) of the lintel (space above the door opening). Also, since the door goes under the ceiling of your garage, keep in mind that you need to have a free space on the ceiling at least as high as the door itself + some 50 cm. Also, you need at least 10 cm of free space on each side of the door.
