What Are The Different Types Of Springs?
Extension springs
Extension springs are mounted on either side of the garage door and run parallel to the tracks. The springs stretch and contract as you open and close the garage door. Extension springs are called “extension” because they extend as they pull your garage door up. They’re also sometimes called “side mounted” or “stretch” springs.
There are two extension springs on a standard residential garage door (one on each side).
