Hi, I work at a California Hardwoods in Auburn, CA. previously a Historical saw mill. The Cal Ida saw mill. There is alot of interesting info on the web about us. We try to help in the recycling of logs and trees people bring in and also recycle other wood products that normally would be thrown into landfills. We have a sawmill operation in our upper yard that is fading fast due to the county shutting down that part of our business. Its sad and unfortunate, because it has been a very big part of our business. We also sell flooring and many other wood products. We have amazing slabs and beams we have collected and cut over time and also must clear those out due to Placer county's demands. They want our property to put a Cosco on it. We have survived many road blocks and will continue to do so. Its an amazing job and people in this field of work are also great. We hope getting the word out will bring support by others to keep our business alive and well. Cisca 530 305-6101 |

Welcome to TreeWorld!! ![]() Well I'm back home from the mountains. Whew...the craziness of it all. I made some good money on the side. Pulled 6 ppl off the side of the road. One guy had thrown a chain and was stuck, needed to get towed to the top of the one mountain to "try to make it down the other side" ( ), he handed me all the cash in his wallet (about 65 bucks) and I towed his truck (twice the size of mine) about 4 miles. Not a bad deal.Downed trees everywhere, downed carports, downed wires, stuck cars. Ahhhh, gotta love it. I got contract work doing road clearance using tractors, so I did that all day today and going back at 6am tomorow. I had gotten on a work crew at the conference center I used to work hourly at, had just gotten a shovel and the maintenance director was like "hey dont you know how to drive a tractor?" so he told me to give the shovel to someone else and I spent the day driving 3 diff tractors, swapping out equipment, getting 2 other rigs up and running. It was really pretty good. Got cold feet though =) |

It's stinking hot here with occasional thunder storms and the humidity is like a sauna with a spa inside. Weeds are growing like buggery, did the rounds with the old glyphosate. Now the bloody ants are waging war so I'll be going to get some stuff to kill them bastids next. The other day I swear it was raining ants, we were working in some creek all nice and shady then kept brushing ants off each other day long ... trees are loaded with ants, maybe looking for high ground away from water, and they're hungry buggers biting all the time. I'd love to have a decibel meter and see WTF all those Cicadas are cranking out, it's a BUG FEST here!

Been doing loads of smaller jobs last few weeks, winding down for christmas as ya do. Keep coming across bumble bee hives whenever we dig up a flax or toitoi bush which is fine until you start the saw up and get them grumpy! Look forward to being back in the new year, bring on 2009! |

Merry Christmas everyone, thank you for the tip on the ants, I swear they are going to carry my house away, and I think jumping ants realy enjoy biting people, I think they bite then sit back and watch and have a good laugh. But to day the PAPER WASPS got me, very hard running away from them on crutches, dam doctor said another five weeks, dam. Such extremes in the weather, hope everyone manages to have a great day wether you are around a fire or in the swimming pool. |

Wow, you all just HAD to talk about crutches. I stepped out onto the porch last night, and my right foot slipped. I crumpled to the ground, right knee dislocated and the lower extremity sticking out sideways. It popped back in when I hit the ground (screaming). Going to the doc's office tomorow. I'm STILL paying the bill from the last time I had to go to the ER, so I checked Pulse, Motor, Sensation... no tingleness, no numbness, equal pulses, swelling isnt toooo terrible and very little bruising. I cant beleive I did that... that was the MOST painfull thing ever, I was screaming. So..... yeah, looks like I'm down for a while. Damn. |

Ligaments can take just as long as bones to heal. That happened to me I'd be FUBAR! Old bastids take longer to heal.

Well, dang it, Ken and Annette....ya'll do be careful, ya hear!! Brent, if you'd like, I could mosey up there to the frigidflatlands and whack with with my cane...... Annette, while feeling bad for your problems, I thank you for the humor in your post. Ken, I'm cringing, and wish you the best..and wondering what the heck I'm doing back on skis, after my knee injury last August. The MRI was less than pretty. It also revealed the extent of the damage from back in 1980 when I had a run in with a tree at 20 mph, skiing.. I'd had it scoped, but no repair was done, as the technique for PCL replacement is very weak. ACL was torn, but they didn't fix that either. Till last Aug, the knee's given me no problems. |

Well what do you lot consider OLD. I am the other side of 50 and that is old. OK OK I know I dont look it but my body knows it, and on top of that the local butchery, (hospital) made a serious error a few years back and now my body thinks it is way older than it is. (Womens stuff). But all it good, your not dead till they put you in the box. (I am going to make my own). I had an idea last year and now that you lot have told me the value of some of my trees I might just get on with it. I want to make coffins, They cost so much I figure that one may as well make use of the dam things while we are still alive, use them for coffee tables, fill them full of the stuff you want to take with you but the main reason was so the people who drive past my place on the way to the Gympie Muster could buy some thing to sleep in, I was going to make them water proff as it ALWAYS rains at Muster time and being the artist that I am I was going to make them personal, paint them and what ever, what |
