Cool pic Randy,i've been removing fences and digging a couple of trenches for another good friend so i can get yet another truck, man this is the 5th truck i'll have owned in 2 years. Its an 81 dodge custom 150,slant 6 engine, interior is in really great shape,as is most of the body, except for a bit of rust in the bed and on the "gutter".I 'm just gonna fix it and flip it i think,i just want the 150 dollar stereo out of it.

The 80s weren't steller years for Dodge, grab the stereo and flip that dog. I had a '62 "Power Gone" with the six in it, it was rust city, it got to the point where it got pretty breezy going down the road.

Hey guys! Guess what I've been doing???? Yup....splitting firewood. <sigh> On tuesday I worked so hard till I was completely exhausted, and I've been strangely sore since then. EXTREMELY sore. I've lost 40% of the movement in my arms unless I want to be in extreme pain, and I'm in pain just sitting or lying down. All up the undersides of my arms, biceps, triceps, and across my chest. The only thing that seems to ease the pain is a very hot bath, and then I can regain some movement. So... I'd prefer not to be taking it slow, but I can barely move.... its really strange, I'm not sure why it happened. I've gotta hold my left wrist with my right hand just to bring my razor up to my face to shave. ugh. Any suggestions? |

We just got back from pruning 9 siberian elms. RRRRR! There is NO such thing as cut and dropping those things. I spent as much time wiggling the deadwood out of the crown as I did getting up to them and cutting. TD rule #4: Siberian Elms should be pruned with 1 cut about an inch off the ground. |

One of the ugliest trees on the planet. This morning I backed the cherry picker up to the house to clean a clog out of the chimney. Filled the house with smoke when I started wood furnace add on last month. Been burning the wood insert in living room for last month that takes at most 4 sticks of wood. Wood furnace takes 8 or more and unlike insert heats whole house thru ducts and has a humidifier. It is 28 outside and thermostat is 74F. I am in heaven, driveway is full of wood. Here is starter pile. ![]() doubled this pile today. Free heat! |

Thanks Sean. Love those racks. They come as 2 ends, you can see one and you just slide 2-2x4x8's into them. There are 2 racks in that length. The total wood there is 1.1 cord which is a dump trailer full and I sell it for $250. dumped.

You got that part right vet! Tonight we are going to have the temp drop 25C. The high for next week is -25C + windchill. I wish I had a wood stove. Trust me I know where to find wood. The problem here is that having anything in your home that burns wood quadruples your insurance. |

I would burn anyway and just do everything the right way. Been burning wood for decades and never come close to having a fire in or on the house. How did the world ever live before insurance?

Before insurance? I'd imagine they lived more carefully, and probably used more common sense. Insurance is a great way to screw up the whole concept of "survival of the fittest". Well I found a cure for my sore muscles. I had my g/f rub me all down with IcyHot. (while wearing nothing but a Santa hat) It worked wonders, I sit here, feeling just fine. (the vicodin may have helped just a teensy bit too) <shrugs> She's so nice, she said something caring and gentle, to the effect of "oh my gosh, you broke yourself by being dumb, working too hard, and not knowing when to stop. maybe being sore will teach you a lesson stupid" Then she slapped me in the chest. ![]() Talk about keeping a guy in line, sheesh. |

We took a 26" 90 foot hemlock off a house today....a fun and easy $2500, didn't start till 12:30......GRCS on tree nearby to pick the butt off the house, and block and portawrap in a big fir in neighbor's yard , perfectly placed to reach the top. CMI foot ascender and Croll with prussic backup above croll...I like that method! Got some pics and videos..... It snowing in Seattle!! An inch here...once temps drop below freezing, it may not get above for days....coldest snap in 15 years. could drop to 15 or lower in town--Fahrenheit. 18-30" of new and still snowing in the mountains...I might go skiing tomorrow...only a couple areas open though with limited operations. |

Just drove back from California, convoy from hell. All our scheduled work was redirected to lock and load on fire suppression mostly in San Bernadino and Orange Counties. Federal contract that included convict labor and our equipment took a beating. Now back to live trees and normal lives, a couple months older but a few dollars extra in the bank.

possibly....it's a spindly doug fir.....less prone to failure or disease than hemlock, and with little wind resistance.

Nah....non issue....thick barked tree...relatively anyhow. However, that is a consideration. We use patches of carpet when attaching LD's to a tree we're concerned about....to protect it and to help keep the device from sliding up, and, if it did, to reduce bark damage. |
