They are similiar to the itchy bomb trees. They have a powdery spore kinda thing that comes off the back off the leaves as you're chipping, gives you a nasty cough.

Also spurred 70ft trees @ TAFE today, first time climbing/spurring that high. Learnt a couple of new things that made it sooooooooo much easier. Advancing 2 fliplines on the fatter trees is hard tho, my flipline is 3m and is about 1.5m short for the one we are doing the test on.

I got myself a 15' flipline as I like to double tail it with a prussik in the middle. Spent the extra money for a really light maxi-flip sports. The extra length really does come in handy while climbing and it's so light you hardy notice it's there. I'm looking at getting a second flipline soon, but only an 8' one. I finally spent the $13 a metre for decent prussik cord. Again, very, very much worth it. So much nicer than the cheap stuff. I got some bee-line. Very, very nice.

I've still got some 25 metre stags at my parents place if you want to get together for some climbing practice. Man I wish I'd gone to tafe this year...

I'm sorry I haven't been here. I took a bad fall; have about 20 fractures around my orbital bone and cheek. I kinda laid up right now. Lates.

Right now? I'm sort of reinventing myself. I have a second huge Coat of Arms that will take me most of the next year to complete. And I am setting about becoming a Chainsaw Artist doing serious sculptural pieces and trying to create a market for myself. The recession has wrought havoc with the upscale architectural carving business, at least for the time being, and I was getting bored with that kind of work anyway. I just had my business nearly ruined by a former friend and business associate who trashed his own business and started taking me down with him, so I'm almost starting over fresh. I also have a bunch of other ideas that I'd like to develop if I can find the energy and some capital to work with, but everything in its season.

Wow. Could you possibly write it up for our injuries section so other people can learn from it? Very glad you're still breathing mate. Hope You're back up in the leafy green soon.

hello, have been busy, doing alot of cypress trees, a few palms and a fair bit of pruning work, mainly deadwooding. Was up a nice citridora today, good climbing tree, big spread. Starting arb cert next week, looking forward to studying after all these years.

I'm kinda loopy right now. I took a full facial on my right eye. I'm looking pretty ugly right now; I have big-time bruises on right-side of my facev& under my chin, (wtf?) and my eye looks like hell. I see doc on Wed. Surgery following.

Since everyone else is talking about it though, the economy might just actually be turning around, and I wish the prices would too. Sure there's work, but it seems like everyone is going by the nickel and dime approach to get it. Cost is key unfortunately, especially for me working in a specialized market, but then again I guess that's the cost of doing business in Chicago.
Yea when I view it it shows with my username. Quirky eh

My tree season here in Manitoba Canada is now in full swing. Good to get back outside after a long winter in the shop working on equipment.
We're having a cool spring at the moment, 1 C for a high which is ideal working conditions for me. I can exert myself hard and not work up to much of a sweat. No leaves yet and no bugs.
Tree and stump removal is all I want to do now. I'm turning down the pruning jobs, way more fun and income in removals.
Willard.

G'day fruiofthevine.

In the main page of the forum, 3rd forum from the top is "Ask an Arborist here". Click on that. Just under the banners at the top you'll see a button "New Thread". Click on that and start your query. Enjoy!

Almost done doing spurring @ TAFE, most practiced on the thick trunks today. It seems 20ft of flipline is just enough to get around these trunks, gogo the double lifeline acting as flipline theory!

Argh too early, read that as 'I want to pick your brains'. I should be good most weekends now, got an assessment tomorrow then none for another 4-5 weeks.

Such a busy week, been hitting the streets that havent been touched for 3 years, didnt think uplifting would end up taking soo much out of trees. One of our big things is to remove the extra leaders, be it 1 or 2 or more, some of them havent been removed and from what ive seen at least 80% of them have split. Thats what took up a lot of time during the week, removing these splits leaders so they dont fall on people.

Haha! 'Pick your brains' is close enough. A bit of climbing and sharing of techniques should be fun anyway. PM me when you want to catch up.

Yea, I remember it.
I bike alot. I took a corner way too fast (going to the BP for some chew), and there were a bunch of children in the road. Did a swerve, and caught an edge. Bam on my face. It was stupid; nothing to learn, but in the meantime I have this pulped-up face. Its getting better though. I just wish I would quit blowing blood from my nose.
