Weather here, has taken a dump (rain almost everyday). Been trying to keep busy, rebuilding my 024, cleaning up the work bench, that I use for working on my chain saws, in the basement. Also trying to get a couple of parts for one of my tractors, so I can get it running, again, to run the wood splitter, and my bale/grain elevator. Also trying to get some fire wood, that has been cut up, split, and piled, if the weather will give me a break. Spent a few hour last week with the piling, and splitting, with a rain suit on, a couple of days. Fire wood is starting to dry up, under the roof, of the wood shed. That is about it for now. Bruce.

pretty much finished up all our work. (Not good). weather is just starting to get nice. (good). have alot of money owed to me. done alot of work subbing under a company on and off throughout the year which was good until last 2 months in which my accounts receivables hit 11,000(really not good). pretty pissed, especially because it is squeezing some of my excellent standing accounts with various services. sucks when youve done the work and done everything your supposed to do and someone else spends your money. like i said it was good for about 10 months. what happened |

Just walked around our garden and have discovered die back in Tulip tree Golden ash Italian alder I know we have had a prolonged period of drought but all trees have had adequate water to survive. We have a Crab Apple Ioensis that has a canker disease , and if I did not know better I think the tulip and golden ash are showing similar signs. The italian alder looks the same. |

Do you see tiny pin holes or dots of resin/sap weeping on the trunks, perhaps from cracks too? Could also be a root rot, you may want to get some close up diagnosis. At the early stages of drought up here conifers (cypress, Thuja) got infected first and died like wild fire, the window for treatment was narrow, the fungi killing it with no signs of fruiting bodies. The fungi interferes with the conducting of water/sugars killing parts, usually from the top down. No matter how much you water once infected near impossible to save, can literally drop dead overnight. Smaller trees spray with copper oxychloride, larger you need to inject them but not much a round that's "on label" to do it. You could try a Mauget injection system via a decent arborist.

| Things are slow here where I live too. Hell last year I made more money in June and July than I have made all this year. Sees like I have been lucky to net a couple jobs a week. although It has given me alot of time to spend time with my family, bring the kids camping and fishing in the summer, and we have been doing alot of bird hunting this fall. Deer season is just around the corner, so more quality time will also be spent then. On a better note I do have an orchard of about 80 over grown never trimmed trees I do have to do once they go dormant. Hopefully it will bring in enough cash to get through the winter. time will tell. ...Good Luck.

Finished off our LoA ticket today @ TAFE, wasnt too hard except this one kind of insulator no one could ID, even the teacher. We saw it on HV, cant remember if we saw it on LV. Can anyone tell me how to ID these for what voltage they are running? We saw a fair few of the ones in this pic. |

Those are the new streamlined insulators, definately high voltage, any power line with sort of insulator stay away the maximum distance...matter of fact let some else do the job..!

Awesome thanks guys. We were driving around doing a visual ID of what was on the poles, services, other crap, LV/HV + voltages. Saw these on 66kV & I think on 6.6kV/11kV lines as well.

Just falling. Not a ton of work in the res world for me right now as long as our crew is up and running full time (until the snow flies anyway). Like to keep my weekends to the family. Built a pretty sweet cedar deck this summer. Falling some nice wood here and there. Some pics attached. The cedar is 14 ft diameter (with the flare)

I'm working on a new way to estimate. Got burned a little today. Thought I could just drop the tree, but had to dismantle it. Toke 4 hours, estimated for 1.5. Good news is my new used dump truck is priceless! |

Dear Therrin Presently I am a manager leading a team of officers conducting a forest servey in one of the water catchment area in singapore. This servey may take 2 years to complete, therefore I will be seeing trees daily, this is also why I decided to join the treeworld community. As a new born member there are lots of tree work related matters which I am looking forward to learn from other members, you too, I hope able to learn from you soon All best. | |
