Who's going to Queensland Arbor Camp? I see Shaun Freeman is doing a talk there, looking forward to it. Am still trying to learn how to post pics. Last edited by Therrin; 7th September 2009 at 07:12 PM. Reason: retyped in non-capslock. Reading all-caps is annoying. |

Chopperlot, It appears that since 3rd August 2009, 08:01 PM your Caps Lock button has been stuck. Please don't write sentences in CAPITALS as it's seen as SHOUTING (plus distracting to read), previous to that date you didn't seem to have any problems writing in lower case so I'm sure you could resume that.

Yes Bruce. It is really a sad sad thing. Thank you your interest for them. Anti-cancer drug is so hard thing I heard. Children loose thier joyfull smiles due to drug-caused-pain. The event was set after strong request from one of the children who happend to enjoy regular tree-climbing event of the park. The groupe leader attended to the next part event and worried if the tree climbing harm children too much. As the child request was so strong and eager, they send an entry as a groupe to our climbing event with two doctors, if children generate fever after hard work of climbing. After all, people enjoyed the day so much with their children. That caused me to put previous message. Bruce, thanks again for your interest. | |

Went to the Arborist Training Seminar @ Vermeer today, quite interesting. Except everytime the American said 'thanks mate' I felt slightly disturbed more and more. Also it was incredibly painful walking around all those new chippers without buying one.

| Work is going well. Actually I am still in college, and I work for an arborist during my breaks and on weekends when I can. Work has been a little slower this year than previous years, but still keeping busy. How are things for you?

Well I Finally gotten around to rebuilding my wood splitter. Mine is a home made Jobie, that I built for the three point hitch of one my tractors (which one is handiest at the time), about 6 years ago. It runs off the hydraulics of the tractor, so it does a pretty good job. I had to replace the bean on it. I built the new beam, out of two smaller pieces of 4" X 2 1/2" X 5/16" (walled, or thick), I beam, welded together to make one piece 5 1/4" wide X 4" X 5/16. The H beam that I had been using, 4" X 8" X 1/4" well it got twisted, recently (after using it for almost 6 years), so it had to be replaced. I should have it finished tomorrow, and I'll be able to get my fire wood split, and piled away. Replacing the carburetor rebuild kit in the carburetor, for my 034. the carburetor was full of sawdust, so I'm cleaning it with carburetor cleaner, and put the replacement kit in it, so hopefully the chain saw will run better. After that I'm going to try and get the rest of my fire wood cut for this years winter's burning. I will have to split it, and pile it in my wood shed to dry for a little bit, before it goes into the basement, and piled. Then I should be ready for this winters burn. Thanks. Bruce

Was on my was to a site 90 miles away to do two dismantles, got halfway there and the job got cancelled. ![]() So since I was already up in Lake Hughes, went and talked to an old neighbor who's starting up a firewood business in a lot near his house. Brought him out to show him some nicely seasoned pine rounds (four foot diam) that I was storing at someone elses place. HE Wanted Em!! So we loaded up his entire trailer and too em back to his place. Made some $$$ on that. Then just got some other work done up there in the hills while I was up there. Just got home a few hrs ago. Not a bad couple days considering that it was looking like everything was just gonna go to shit anyway. Getting that little bug in me that makes me wanna start sitting down with my problem or rebuild saws and start getting them worked on and fired up. No good reason to have 15 saws laying around if only 7 or so of them work at any given time right? lol. It was actually nice to be working with some of that wood again, and now its all off my hands, thank god. Looks like we may do some work together in the future here as well. Good stuff. Therin, I apologise, I only spotted this thread. Am I quick or what? Sorry mate. November 08. I was harvesting pine in the plantations in Mansfield, in Victoria's east. I was driving a Valmet 890-3 forwarder and a Valmet/Timco 425EX harvester. Some days I was working from 5am to 4.30pm in the forwarder. Then from 4.30pm when the others went back to camp I'd jump in the harvester till 11pm. The next day I would pick up all that I and the harvester operator had processed, and the cycle would repeat. That's what I was workin on right then lol. Better late than never hey? |

I am currently working on not being confused. Ok I have this small tree that I need to identify. Here's the story. Two years ago I stuck a couple of seeds in this old flower pot sitting on my counter. I was just messing around and didn't think too much of it....Anyway one of the seeds was a red pepper seed I think, the others were apple, grapefruit and orange I believe all from fruit I had bought at the grocery store. So after a few months this thing started to grow in the pot and I have NO IDEA what it is. It's approximately three feet tall now, single stem at the bottom but branches out towards the top...Like a tree. At the base it looks like bark that is fairly smooth and brown. The leaves are not serrated but smooth around the edges and alternate on either side of the stem. They are fairly smooth and look kind of waxy. They are widest in the middle but they look like they are attached to a smaller leaf at the base. Does this make any sense??? I just noticed recently that there are thorns growing just underneath or beside almost all of the older leaves....Some as long as an inch. Anyway if anyone can help me identify this thing that would be swell. I would hate to think I have been nurturing a weed for two whole years though it would be pretty funny! Thanks so much.
