See, just what I have been talking about .... the holes in system, lack of specifics and consistency.

This is the best guy on ExpertVillage, I loved the bit that his 'chipper shredder' has a chimney and not a chute. |

Most epic day of the job so far, we made it into the news for cutting down a 136yo Peppercorn. South Yarra residents mourn loss of historic peppercorn tree You should have seen the neighbours tho, they werent nice at all. One of them today was coming out and just plain old abusing us and the boss, telling us where to go and how we are big men cutting down old trees with chainsaws. You try to tell them that the tree is failing, causing 10's of thousands of dollars worth of damage but nooo we want to keep this tree to look at. But where it mattered, the 3 flats next to the tree all wanted it gone. The developers are Russian, the lady comes out with all this racism towards them, telling them to go back to their country coz they dont have the right to be here etc, etc, etc... |

If so, I've looked at quite a few great looking "things" I'd like to have rights to. Boats, planes, women, jewels, waterfront, art, trucks, Mercedes tractors, and on and on. Rights by looking, that's a new one on me! ![]() Plant young trees, the old will go by anyway. Don't wait till they rot. | |

I've yet to have angry neighbours, but it kind of sounds like fun. Not to many tree huggers around here, trees are a dime a dozen is the attitude. I've relocated to a resort area where I do mostly waterfront work. Keeps it cool on a hot day. Work has been slow during spring and early summer, but is picking up as of late. Either the economy or my new phone number which I changed as the phone book was being printed. The bills are getting paid anyway.

Yes, I know the arborist know as Brent Secord. He talked me into attending a tree insect conference. I got the 9.5 ceus but slept through the most boring non local information that was a repitition of the college I attented. I understand he was banned from treeworld. To bad he seems harmless, and kind of fun, he must of pissed someone off. We have long cold winters here and some suffer from cabin fever, and take out their frustrations on the computer.

Been trying to get things organized around here to cut fire wood for this winters burning. Been having a lot of troubles getting motivated (severe case of depression, isn't fun), and a lot of troubles with my back injury from 8 years ago . No matter. Wouldn't wish this on my Worst Enemy! My loader tractor is in my shop right now, getting the hydraulic system looked at. Having troubles with lifting anything with the loader (hydraulic pump I have figured is the cause of the troubles, easy to rebuild, I hope) . Might also need a few O rings to seal things up a bit as well, to make sure that there is no leaks. I had to rebuild the loader from the loader mounting brackets, to the loader arms itself (things got twisted, sprung, and bent a bit, so it was time to rebuild), with help from a friend. We managed to finish that last weekend. Started everything (loader tractor, and loader) about the beginning April, and still working at it. . Before I had to swap rear ends, because the differential went in the old one, so I was able to swap one out with another friend of mine , who wrecks tractors. Cheaper to do it that way, instead of getting new parts, plus the rear end I swapped for, has a differential lock, which was a bonus. Now my loader tractor has one, so hopefully I won't get stuck in the bush as much, during the wet falls, or in the winter. ![]() I need the loader to pick the tree tops up off the ground, so that I don't have to bend over that far to cut the tree tops up into fire wood, with the chain saws . . Hope to be at it some time later on this week, or by the week end, that is if I can get the loader to work right. . I have all my chain saws all serviced, and ready to go ( saws all cleaned up, and gone over, clutch bearings greased, new spark plugs, bars cleaned up, burrs ground off the edges, and nose sprockets greased, and all my chains cleaned with oven cleaner, sharpened up, and oiled, just have to wrap them up in news paper), so once I get started, I won't have to worry about sharpening chains for a while ![]() At least once I get everything ready and organized, I'll have a bit of enjoyment running my chain saws. I have always enjoyed cutting fire wood . Other than I still have to get the splitter ready to go as well, but that shouldn't take too long for it to get ready, I hope. Just have to sharpen the wedge a bit on it, and adjust the bracing on it, too stop it from twisting, while under load while splitting. First I want to get the fire wood all cut up, and once that is done, I'll get the splitter out and split the fire wood that needs to be split, and I'll have it piled away so it will dry a bit before I have to put it inside the basement. Bruce.

Ekka, I am new to the group. As a person who works on process performance and statistical analysis, I am keen to see how it may be relevant to the arborist. I can see a number of areas where the systemic thinking can be applied to improve timeliness, growth rates of trees, tree transplanting processes etc. |
