My brother lives in Morristown. I did some work in that area but my business was based in Flemington. I went thru a divorce (her fault of course I got together with an old high school sweet heart (Cinci) I had not seen in about 15 years at a reunion a couple of friends set up. We fell in love again and married and I moved all my $hit out here. Are you near the lakes?

I love Cinci but miss the beauty of western NJ. My sister lives in Sergeantsville. We get out there occassionally.

Yup, around Labor Day. I've got a neighbor that finished in the Top 10 one yr. I've heard there's a few hard cores that turn around at the finish line and run the entire course again.

And the Mtn Biking is not too shabby either. I love the "Ant Farm", smooth and fast.
I've heard of the Ant Farm but i can't remember if i've rode that trail or not? Sawtooth, are you from the Sawtooths? I climbed the Elephant's Perch yrs ago when I used to rock climb.

Yeah there are some fanatics in that crowd. I bailed at 87, never got back to try again.

Dave, just tree assessment, care, and writing. 4 deadlines this weekend, arrg. You'll see 2 in Feb.

Fraud, rapist, you guys are killing me. 80 year old red oaks broken in half, trees on houses, and the "treeseer" wants me to prune (save your corrective pruning and bark tracing for a different thread) Rapist I may be but my only victims are hazardous trees whose targets are worried home owners. Their fraud is the insurance companies' long battle, but they pay into home owners' insurance for 60 years and what do they get? Nuttn When theirs' is a catastrophic disaster they get a government bail out. Win-win. I'm helping give back...... a little. Don't over analize everyones' pics & videos so much or people are going to stop sending stuff in. A guy will send in a picture of a dude cutting a 4'' palm down and there's 36 posts on how he should of used a bigger saw, chaps, helmet, and a crane. And here all the picture was about was his new hand saw. The last groundman I worked with spiked every tree to the top, tied in, then worked untied the whole time, one handed the saw, blah blah blah. Every day for 40 years, never been hurt, EVER. If I sent video of him working, Querus would put $ on him being dead in a week. Watch ur words.

You may be over reacting IMO. Just helping you CYA. What you described IS insurance fraud. Some things you do and just shut up about it.

Scared old people what are talking about? Im the guy who walks away from removals not beause the tree is hazardouse but because its not. When it comes to the nitty gritty and your clinet wants a perfectly healthy tree cut down im the guy who says " cant do it call someone else". not sure if treeseer knows this but ohio got 80 mph winds across the entire state for over an hour in some places. some neighborhoods lost all street trees. Ohio having the largest amount of greenspace between developments in the nation, theirs lots of storm damage. Im a sub contractor, I get paid by the guys who gets paid. nobody knows me

I know you (a little). Have talked to you on the phone. I think you were telling us that you were HELPING the client with the deductable. I was merely suggesting that you watch what you say on a public, documented forum. Never know what can happen. I was just trying to help ....you were just trying to help......life goes on...

We have removed loads of unsalvageable trees blown apart and have triaged into repairing the ones that can be left.

Hello EKKA;
Nice Reports and Video on your site as usual. This site is more professional looking every time I come by. We always learn something from these reports. It is cold here today ( by our Standards) around 31-F. Degrees this morning. I have been home sick with sinus problems and taking medicines and this is the first day back to work this week.

I wish you, your Personal Family and Extended Tree Climbing Work Family a great holiday Season, Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year 2009.

Yesterday I did some field work. Research with a PICUS-machine. This machine can make an image of the inside of a tree with soundwaves. I had to do two trees each under attack by a different Ganoderma species

Example of image received by the machine

PCarborist,

Yes, I've been living in Southern Idaho for a while, Denver is just a diversion until I can get back. Hard to make a living around Sun Valley. The Elephant's Perch? That's a big league climb. Bummer all the storms have split around you recently.

Willem,

What does the image mean? I have never used or seen that equipment before. I use the unscientific method of pounding on the trunk with a mallet to determine if the tree is still sound.

Well things have been really slow right now. About two weeks ago had a job removing some big limb off five good size oaks. H/owner wasn't getting enough sun in that part of his yard and also some for the limb were starting to sag down on a 8' tall fence along the side of his yard. But it was a good job.
The only problem was it was cold and the wind was blowing. Of course the last day was sunny and warm.

Cool,so is that an experimental machine?how acurate is it?is there a color code so yuo can tell whats decayed?Something like that would be a very worthwhile investment for me,i could use it to determine the amount of decay in trees before i climb them.

I thought you were supposed to work with that one guy up north anyway? Something about climbing redwoods and stuff?

Interesting stuff Willem....Chapters 12 and 13 of Francis Schwarze's new book, Diagnosis and Prognosis of the Development of Wood Decay in Urban Trees discusses this.
