Yer its a 93 model 12inch Bc1250,on the other side I mounted a vice as well at chest height, I hate bending over to sharpen saw's.
I carn't wait to update, hmmmm BC1800, but this old girl does the job and I can put up with it.

Ok I'll get some closer pic's for yeh.
Everybody diss'es the 1250 but tons of em out there. I got my 1250 in 99. It has the 115hp perkins turbo diesel and auto feed. I wouldn't part with it. It is very capable for the size of it. I added a BC 2000 200hp Cummins to compliment it. Don't want to ride over any lawns with that one. Great for craners tho.

Very little, except the compound hose assembly replacing the wire cable, this compound hose assembly allows the climber to control crane functions, as well as supply him with virtually anything he needs, compressed air, bar oil, hot/cold water, filtered breathing air, paint, soapy water/chemicals.

Vactor MFG makes the hose reel I want to adapt for use with the compound hose assembly.

No more setting up three times to reach an entire large spreading tree.

I call it a Sky Spider. And it could be utilized by many other industries other than ours.

Gettin' an old saw up and running, writing a course cirriculum for "Chainsaw safety and practices" to be used for a Church volunteer group that wants to help clean up after ice storms, tornadoes, etc. By day I'm an electric utility engineer...I just love sawin' wood.

I am retired from the railroad, and I heat with a wood stove, so I have been putting up firewood. I just cut my last tree for the season. I believe that I now have a two year supply.
My next project will be to have a Walker muffler done for the 5100S. Thanks for the welcome

You lucky bugger Treevet. Bc 2000 man i wish, no more lugging blocks. But the firewood pile is slowly growing.
I just wish they wern't so dear,and they don't trade 2nd hand for 2nd,only 2nd for new.
This 1250 is only 80horse 4 cyclinder perkin's,seem to be fixing it a lot lately wich I hate. Other then that it is good for what it does, it has auto feed but doesn't work.Exspensive to fix I think, will have to get it looked at.

I'd say it is worth it QQ, I have seen those little dinky rental Vermeers (look like toys) swallow some pretty good size branches that surprised me with the autofeed.

Can't you find a guy that does hydraulic on the side?

Just how close to the lines are they?If its within 10',youre not allowed to touch it unless your certified in line clearance. If it don't feel right, get a pro, tree climbing is very dangerous,i know i sound like a safety book, but as some one who has been around the block, and who continues to learn from older guys, play it safe.

Its a hell of a lot better than what im working with. Some old Austchip 9" with a hatz 4cyl diesel, starts on 2 cylinders, when it warms up the 3rd kicks in then it works alright... kinda, 4th cylinder doesnt work. Old school lift and crush, metal pole the lift/force down the top feed roller. Leaky fuel guage so you can only fill it half way.

Sounds like the engine is do for a rebuild, should just need rings and bearing, and gaskets.

Well,i'm off to the chiropractor in 15 minutes,i'm on standby for cleaning up the rest of my mess from destroying that duplex, waiting a couple weeks for the client toget some more money togther.I got another job i'm starting later today.I might go and try to get fianaced for a sweet little crotch rocket i was looking at yesterday.

Hi BCN, I would find a local Arborist and ask him to come and give you some help. Our company covers California to the Mexican border. There is never a charge and it is if we are going to be in the area. Worth a try. I am all over San diego county all day, every day.

My 1250 auto feed plays up too and i've found out that if the anything goes wrong with the alternator, like belt slipping,or loose wires the auto feed stops working or runs jerky, other than that its a great unit and with side slew is good for chipping in bad access sites.
still a 1800 would be nice

When you go from a Mitts and Merrill chuck and duck, a 1250 is heaven. Good to know about the alt. and auto feed correlation. Side feed swing is great too.

I'd say semi trailer deck of a truck, errr pain.

As you get older slips and bumps hurt more I reckon, why the fug do they make lace up boots! You know how many times the fuggen laces get caught on a stick or some crap and you go ass up?

LOTS!

Even ditched the chainsaw a few times, just stupid for lace up work boots (I'm not talking those logger ones that go to your knees like some tree hooker )

Have five acres that I bought last year with no trees. Named it Shady Acres. My goal is to slow the grass down with shade and cool it down in the summer months. I live in SW Florida, dont want any palms. I want to grow at least one of every different tree that will grow here. So far I have planted: 15 pines, 6 live oaks, 7 maples, 1 rainbow euculiptyus, 2 empress, and a few carrotwoods, 1 yellow tuplid(not sure if this one will grow this far saouth but going to try) all have a bubbler run to them from irrigation. Joined here for tree selection ideas and help on trees I may plant in the future.
