So who has a boss so focused on making money you cant get time off over chistmas? and tells you not to turn your phone off on the xmas public holidays incase there is an emergency job. in all honesty i dont give a rats arse about a branch falling into someone's swimming pool if its not life threatening it can wait till the new year and if the boss wants it done go and cut the F@#*ing thing himself

Default Re: Working over the Christmas break

I am on call and then back to work on Tuesday.

Its not that I want to get a call out but Brian Krupicka, my boss, is a real family man so if you have to lose family time you know that its important for someone and you know that it will be appreciated.

As an example, because my wife and I like plants, on one occasion he gave me an Eden glasshouse for helping out. We would have never gone out and splurged on one so it was a real treat.

I guess I look at it like this "If the business is prosperous and making money then I am in a good position." In the current times my wages have not gone down, did a 3 week paid vacation in Europe several months ago and just got a paid 4 day study tour. I work real hard to make the company profitable and he works real hard to make sure I am taken care of.

Lastly, we hate storm work. It means rebooking work and letting other clients down. When the days are this long I'd rather go and get it safe out of hours and then schedule the rest. So lets hope there is no storm work!
