Hello, long time since last now i was on here now! Hope you all have had a wonderful Christmas and get a great new year! ![]() I've been back in work for just over an year now since i finished my duty in the army, and I'm not far away from taking my ETW (European treeworker) exam. But i have been thinking allot lately, about getting some work (and life) experience from an other part of the world. I hoped to get it done while I'm still young and have no family to take care of. I may want to start my on company in my home town far off in the future, but i do not want to plan too long ahead. So i was thinking of working as a climber in another country for a short period or up to year (maybe more?) to do something different and try something new. I would like to work a place where i could learn from experienced climbers, learn about trees and tree work in another part of the world, and also get to do some new and challenging work. Also a place where i could travel the country, meet new people and see exciting places. I have been thinking about Australia for a while, the country looks like an amazing place, and i bet there is tons of exciting places to work there! Canada maybe? A different place, but much like home? I'm open to any place in the world. So the thing i was wondering about Is if any of you guys had someplace, country, town or company to recommend? Is it difficult to get work abroad? Or if you have any other opinion, i would be glad to hear it! Regards Falke Omdal |

First of all check countries for work visa requirements, then from there look for the work. Avoid Australia in summer (December to March)

Right now, Canada is in pretty much of a slump. Assuming you were allowed to emigrate here, work is hard to get. Reminds me of the old saying -- the grass always looks greener on the other side of the fence...

Thanks for the replies! I will look more into that work visa thing, and maybe scratch Canada from the list. Is there any towns in Australia thats better to live in than others, i'd like to be able to travel in the weekends and see different tourist attractions and stuff like that..
