Tara asked if I could send her the original art in Tiff format, that the JPEG we sent her came out fuzzy. It's because I sent the file at 72DPI instead of 300. |

Well, Hi Tara from Cards of Wood dot com. Welcome to treeworld! For the readership, here's the Cards of Wood web page that describes the different available species. As you can see from the responses, we really like your cards. I'll have to admit to our underlying fascination and mystique with the process from log to end product, but first things first. I need to order cards and would be willing to do so here, in this place, to help the others understand the process. Minimum 100, that's good to know. Is there a setup fee per card design? For example, I am working with two Kiwi climbers here in Indianapolis. I would like for them to have their own cards to hand out while they're here, the phone and all would be the same, but their names would be added, like so....... |

How much per hundred cards, Tara? These cards are so special, people won't throw them away. I hve wooden business cards come up from ten years, three residences and two phone numbers ago. People hold tight to these cards. Handed to the client, these cards make a solid visual moment, a class and professionalism that helps form the early impression of the Arborist. First impressions can be everything.

Hi! Yes, we can make minor changes to artwork for the $15.00. 100 cards printed with 1 color of ink is $35.00 and 100 cards in more then 1 color is $55.00. There are breaks in the price as you go up in quantity. You are right.... these cards are not easily thrown away! Thank you! |

Done. These cards are my only form of advertising. It is truly necessary for a business person to have a business card. We, as treeguys, can truly appreciate and benefit from a legit wooden business card. When it can act on it's own behalf as an advertising tool, it is just something I outwardly want to share with my mates. And don't any of you go comparing your cheap, by-the-thousand business cards to these authentic wood cards. It would be like comparing apples to pickles. With that said, these are not a card you want to broadcast widely. These get handed to another human, with a handshake.

OK, we like the cards, we know how much, we just need to send you high-resolution artwork and $. You made that so easy, Tara. The online Arborist community, if I may speak for them, is impressed, honored you could say. I don't want to put you on too high a pedestel , but we really do appreciate you dropping in and sharing your company with us.Aside from the ordering of the cards themselves, there is some inventor at your company, the guy who devised a way to shave microns-thin slices off a log. This person developed and perfected a unique process and this person at the core of your company is somewhat of a hero to me. He/she has spent years of their life, building a company, building a life around microveneer,...... ................. Just so we Arborists can have the coolest of cool cards. Thank you, Tara. No, wait, you go and thank the inventor of the microveneering process, you go tell him/her that Tree Machine wishes to extend his most sincere and deep-felt thank you for creating for me, the single most valuable and effective card I can imagine. The compliments you (Cards of Wood) have received from my clients over the last 10 years must number into the thousands. The larger proportion of people remark on the uniqueness of the card. Thank you for providing me that business advantage. |

Hi Everyone! I am so excited that you want to order wood cards! Feel free to contact me by phone or e-mail to get things started or you can go to our website and print off our order form. If you have artwork that you could e-mail, a high resolution PDF file works great. Thank you! |

Tara, I read this on your site Quote:
Maybe paperback lets people write on the back of the card. ![]() Also, how do we send our artwork, there's no email facility to send like a 1mb file etc?

Hey, These cards are quite unique and would be an asset for anyone using them. For that special customer... I dont mean to rain on any ones parade but..How would they go with customs, I remember when I came home from Fiji all wooden items had to be declared and if memory serves me correct they were confiscated.maybe for the Australian buyers we need to check with customs first...how frustrating would it be to have a beutiful card and not be able to get it into the country.Just a thought. ![]() ![]()

Hi! Regarding paperback and 2 ply, most of our printed products are done in the 2 ply because they are more sturdy and people usually like the wood on both sides. (Also to note, the wood can be written on very easily with a pen if needed.) The paperback is mostly used in the sheet sizes for people that may be using for crafts and gluing onto things or they may be running them through their own ink jet or laser printer. However, if anyone would prefer to use a paperback, we can put a thick paper backing on them so they are more stiff to hold up better for business cards. We can take pretty large e-mail files, but if your file is not going through.... do you have the capability to "stuff it" or "zip it"? If this does not work, we may need to resort with sending it on a disc. Unfortunately, we do not have a special site to send artwork to besides our company e-mail which is tara@cardsofwood.com. Regarding shipping internationally, we have not had any problems with the cards being confiscated before. We do document them as wood business cards, and there may be a customs charge... and perhaps will be held up at customs to be checked, but really for the business cards we have not had any major problems or hold ups. We have shipped postcards, wedding invitations, clothing tags, etc. with no problems..... so, this is good news! Thank you! |

Thank, YOU, Tara. I'd like to add to Tara's answer to Ekka's question: Quote: Choose from 1-ply veneer with paper back, or 2-ply veneer. Quote:
If you look really close at the edge, you can see the glue-line between the layers. Then there's a third, maybe it's lesser known, maybe more expensive, I don't know, but help me out, Tara, it is a plastic back laminate, super-thin plastic coating. I have gotten this on my birdseye maple cards, makes a very durable card, glossy-clear on the back, really enhances the grain. What's up with the plastic laminate backing, Tara? We know you know....

Hi! The glossy coating is a dry film adhesive that is fused onto the wood which has a high gloss look. We can put it on both sides or just one side. Putting the high gloss coating onto the cards adds $0.05 per card. Some people feel it takes away from the "natural" look of the wood, so it is really a preference issue. I love both ways! I hope everyone is having a great week! Thank you, Tara |

The dry-film I got, I think, was by accident. It was on the backside of some curly maple I ordered. As thin as the film is, it adds just a bit more heft, and helps prevent the cards from cracking. Great stuff! Tara, I really need to order cards, ASAP. I have completely run out and things are looking grim here.......

Hi Jim! I am ready to get your order going.... I just need to verify the type of wood you want and the quantity. Also, where should I ship the cards and how would you like to pay for them? Thank you so much! We will be able to get the cards shipped out within a day or two of getting the information above! Oh, one quick question... are your cards to be printed with all black ink? Thanks! Tara |

You've really made this easy to order, I simply e-mailed you the business card in digital format, now I choose the wood and you send them to print. You're the best. Ok, I know what I want. My type font is not heavy, and it shows up best on white wood.

Hi Jim! Ok, so do you want a mix of light woods or do you want to choose one type? Also, how many would you like and where should we ship these? Thanks so much! We will start on them right away when I get the above details! Tara |

I wish to get a variety pack, 50 of this and 50 of that. And a hundred of these and very special request of 50 of those. Here's a blanket special request for all the cards I will order; could you have the specie of wood printed on the backs of them? This is because birch and aspen look a lot alike, and the curly and the quilted and the birdseye maple have their similarities. |
