The blend of so many skills and discplines, science, mechanics, physics, nature, art, sociology, psychology, communication, athleticism. Working outdoors, new challenges everyday, teamwork in the truest sense of the word, problem solving. It makes you work with clarity and eyes wide open. Not too many jobs can match that.

To say that you are in the business for the purpose of making money, is akin to saying that you are alive for the purpose of breathing. Yes, a business (or person in the business) has to make money to stay in business, just as a person must breathe to stay alive. However, for your life or your work to be happy, productive or rewarding, you must believe that you are destined to serve a higher purpose. We are in a service industry, therefore it is our purpose to be of service - to serve our clients. And I cannot think of a more honorable service then to be helping them in the care of their most valuable natural asset.

Well said everybody, I think most people when they started doing tree work didnt care for trees but then you get hooked and want to learn and care and you cant help that! The thing about trees and the way we work on them is addictive! I could never amagine doing any other job nor would I ever want too.

Care of trees is my #1, close 2nd would have to be the adrenaline and the fact that the job continues to challenge me. I am a quick learner who easily becomes bored with most jobs, tree work has continued to challenge me and give me a sense of acomplishment for the entire time that I have been doing it.

Hi Guys, last week I went to a quote, expecting the usual trim, shape or remove but instead I found a couple with a genuine care for their trees. I was the only qualified arborist they had found after looking around and just finding hacks. It made me feel really good that i could just give them advice about their trees instead of competting with some dickhead to win a quote. Thats what treework for me is all about, a genuine care and respect for trees to care for others, I didnt want to accept any payment but they paid for my petrol to get there which helps, some times i question why i Am an arborist with so many people to compete with and most with little respect for the values of a TRUE arborist. Always undercutting and genuinely giving the industry a bad name.....

I do it because of my need to be outside, I almost can't stand to be in the house at night with the windows closed. I like the technical aspects of the work, rigging, climbing. I've been fascinated with rope all my life. And not much compares to running a 660 50 ft. in the air. I like both the solitude and the camaraderie of the trade. The rush when blowing out a big top. The tranquility of pruning for weeks with just a sugoi. I like that the work is hard and demanding, And that it's honest. I sleep well at night because of it. I'm in the tree business because I could never do anything else and not feel my soul die a small portion everyday. I'm in the tree business because I love it.
