Iv been using 300/400 pound fishing line for years, because its easy to get, and it never tangles, its just a bit tricky to tie knots. I recently got some of the smaller "zing it" line, and im having all sorts of trouble with it, tangles, tangles, tangles, plus i just cant throw it, i use throw line 4 or 5 times a day so im not a bad shot, but with this stuff i cant get the release right .

I really like zingit, try doubling the line through the ring on your throw bag gives you more to hold on to...also get yourself a folding cube or something similar it makes packing the line up really quick also reduces tangles....when I used it often I would lay out the amount I felt I needed on clear ground before each throw. |

When I have a new throwingline, I roll out the complete lenght of it. Then fixed to a tree and give it some good pulls. This helps against tangels.

Smaller diameter, I like Willem's idea, as the line gets older there are less and less tangles so pulling on the entire length (or half its length) would definately help IMO |

If you think Zing-it tangles, you should try Fling-it. Really finicky, and an exercise in frustration if it's been sitting in my fold-up cube for a week. It seems it's all in how you "manage" the line. What helped me most was watching experienced pros at climbing competitions. Gentle, delicate touch. If my line has not been used in a few days, I flake it out of the cube once onto the ground, then back into the cube. Recently I had to climb where the ground was covered in knee-high blackberries and ivy. There's a nice challenge for throwing. I bought dynaglide last year cuz I liked the green color, but a 16oz bag wouldn't drop down on a oak where a 10oz with the other lines would. So I took it back. I even called the company(New England), but they didn't seem at all interested in talking about it. |
