Visiting W.Australia in December

Hi,
I am spending a month in Western Australia Dec 16-Jan16. My son is living there.
Hoping to hook up with a tree geek or two. Especially interested in climbing a big Karri down south.
Will visit the canopy walkway...met the fellow who built that while proposeing for a similar project in the redwoods (it never went forward).
We will be based out of Perth and Eagle Bay. Plan to hike the Cape to Cape track.
I work as a registered consulting arborist. I like to climb and explore.
Any advice or contacts would be greatly appreciated.
