Default Using cranes for pruning?

Hey all,i have a large pruning job to bid, large leader, goes out over a house and service lines,i could use a double bull line set up,but i was also thinking, get a crane in there,3 cuts, put the pieces on the footpath, cut them up and be done, more cash up front, but less time aloft?WHat do you guys think, anyone done it before?

Just think about how you are going to get out over those service wires to put a sling on.... I take it 2 sling job, one toward tip and one closer to trunk.

Price the crane on top of your price and bill it direct to customer so you cant be caught out ... unless you inflate the price for the WTF's that do happen!

The limb in question will have to be taken in no less than 3 pieces, due to size, and lack of room to set it in,i could pull a permit and set the whole limb in the road, but its a busy intersection right in front of the house. Its a good 15' above the wires so thats not to much of an issue, even if they were, its just a service kicker, call the power co and have the wire dropped.I got to call a crane co in the next week or so,i really don't want to start this job,i'm swamped as it is,the job isn't going anywhere,i'm too good of a family friend.

Hi newguy,

If you can get a bucket in there why don't you do some rigging. If the lead is as big as you say the tree must be able to support some weight. Piece it down with a couple groundman holding a bullrope and use a running bowline with a figure 8.

Good luck!
