Default Trees, trees and trees

Hi, I recently migrated to Sydney and am looking around for a property and would like to know what are some of the concerns that I need to consider if the property I am interested in have a large backyard with alot of mature trees bearing in mind that prior to this I was living in a concrete jungle. I must say that I quite like the shade it provides though.

I am reasonably sure there are a few well qualified and experienced Arborist in and around Sydney who could carry out a pre-purchase inspection for you.

Thanks for you reply but before I do take any further action, I would like to know what are the general things that I should take note of when assessing the property. How would I know what kind of work would be involved should I purchased the property. For example under what kind of circumstances or concern do I need to engage the help of a arborist?

if there is any doubt as to the safety of your structure(s) (trees large enough to damage in the event of some failure) (roots potentially that could damage hardscapes/driveways/structures/septic tanks/ etc.)(trees that are on more than one property line as that can be a real nuisance in many ways)(dead ones..duh..)(species)(damaged ones.. duh) and on and on and........
and then it really gets to the point where it needs to be evaluated by a competent arborist that can give you a bonafide report or atleast a 1 hour consult.
If we could go over all the various nuances of things to look for over the internet I truly would be the master. Face to face is really the only way to ensure you are not buying a property full of potential hazard or even worse.. a yard full of exotic, invasive, potentially dangerous trees (looks can be deceiving).

if your serious about buying, getting a good arborist would be worth its weight in gold and could save you big time.. Make sure you check them out thoroughly.

oh yeah. put some pics up.. couldnt hurt

Trees which look unhealthy, trees hanging over buildings (gutters, roof), trees which look like they have dropped largish branches previously, trees with fungus growing on or around them on the ground.

Most trees shouldn't need much attention at all, if any, but the above conditions might be indicators that things are not perfect. Trees, however, generally do give a great amount of beauty to a property and often joy or peace to an owner.
