Default Tree through 'power' line

Hi,

I have a Poinciana tree that was growing through the power lines. I rang energex and they trimmed back the part that was through the power lines but left a couple of branches that are above the bottom line (thick black one - I assume the broadband). Who's responsibility is it to remove these branches as I though energex would have removed these ones with the others.

Thanks,
Hoyley

that would be the cable or phone companies responsibilty here anyways.Usually the power co gets them anyway.Just don't attempt it yourself.

I'm pretty sure that it is a cable tv line, but have rung around the phone companies, the local council and the power company but no one wants to claim ownership of the issue.

I'm not going to remove it myself (even thought they ouwl only be 2cm branches) but it is looking as though I won't be able to get someone to remove it for free as the power company doesn't care about the cable company's line.

They're the communitions wires and neither Telstra or Optus prune around them like Energex.

Ultimately it could be deemed your responsibility if you own the tree.

Similar if you own a tree it's your responsibility to maintain the clearances for footpaths and roads. I have seen letters sent by BCC stating 2.7m footpath clearance and 3.7m road clearance.

The reason why Energex prunes their own is electricity can kill.

Now same for street signs, I've often had to prune trees from private yards away from various signs on the footpath including bus shelters and traffic lights. If the tree is on council land then it's the council's responsibility.

Yeah we do alot of LV powerline(The service lines going to the house[240v]) clearance down here thanks to Integral Energy's vegetation reports, stating that a minimum of 500mm clearance around the wires be maintained or the H.O gets their power cut off! Pretty good with sales aye, most people are scared that their power will be cut and accept on the spot...

Those things are pretty quiet nowa days but went crazy start of last year/the year before... Got a quote I've actually gotta do for one fairly soon.

Get this right, we were removing one of our neighbours Washy palms that was within the 500mm of the service lines, right bang in the middle of it the Active Tree Services Vegetation manager plots along and issues a vegetation report even though he can see it coming down... Unbelievable, after his bloody quota.. You are supposed to get them back out to inspect, but we told our neighbour to call them up and ust give them the speel about it.

Perhaps the company that did the clearing left these branches were formatively pruning the tree, setting it up to wine glass around the wires above in the future?

Take some photos so we can have a clear look, if you don't mind.

Default Powerline clearance comapanies - Gold Coast

Hi. I'm new to this site and was wondering if anyone knew who has a contract to do "line clearance" on the Gold Coast. I'm from NZ and i'm looking at moving over soon. I do some climbing (amateur) and i'm in need of a good contact.

Thanks,

Marto
