Default Transplanting Grasstrees

Has anyone had any experience in transplanting grass trees? Got asked to price up decent block clearance for new shed (25x50mts) and there are a lot of grass trees, some multi headed, that will be knocked over after I've been through. Was planning to bag up a fair few and see if they take and maybe re sell them once established. Any pointers or tips? Had thought of digging around each one with mini excavator or trencher on dingo and then soft sling around base and lift them out and pop them in a bag and backfill...

Could be worth contacting a local nursery or someone who specialises in selling Grass trees. They might be able to give you some advice or even be prepared to come out and take the grass trees off your hands for a reasonable price. One thing i would do if you end up pulling them out yourself would be to make sure you water them with Seasol or similar seaweed extract to help them settle and put on new root growth.

Good luck hope you can save a few.

That sounds like the way to go! They are touchy though, it'll be hard to get 100% of them surviving the transplant no matter how much TLC you provide. Its definitely worth the effort though, the multi-headed ones cost over $500 each at the wholesale nursery I use. Some are around the $1,100 mark (wholesale)
