Default Top Handled saw!

Hi folks,
Yesterday arvo the missus passed me the catologue for Gasweld and guess what?

On page #2 Here's a GMC brand top handled saw for $99 25CC, 12" Bar. l wonder how long before start hearing of kickback accidents?
And l can just see the hacks with their little saw pretending to be a seasoned
Arborist.

Our scanner is off line presently so l cant post a picture for you all to see.As soon as we can will post a pic.

All The Best
JayD

99 bucks, looks like a great palm throw away saw to me, just replace the consumer bar and chain.

I'll grab one of these very soon to see if they are worthy...

LOL, DONT BOTHER!

I just quoted a bloke up here who somehow has some sort of little crap top handled thing same.

It wouldn't start so I had a go, was flooded last he used it so started OK for me as dried out.

Bloody gutless, and when you hit the throttle takes a while for it to get up to speed, usual skip safety chain etc.

No way mate, I aint in the business of tickling palms or trees with that contraption!

Get a 200T from USA, never ever look back.

Well, you get what you pay for. Also why buy a $600 Stihl if you are going to use it once in 3 months? The saw has a 2 year warranty for domestic use which is fine for the market the saw is aimed at. I bought one, put it together filled it with fuel and oil, pressed the primer thingy a few times, pulled out the choke and it fired on about the 6th pull. Tuning was fine, idle speed was spot on, saw is light and cuts what I want to cut. When I need something bigger I get the Mobilco CS701SVL out of the shed or the big Husky.
Horses for courses. I've had worse saws made by some of the big names. If you want to see something really frightening, try an electric saw with a dodgy power switch. Now there is something that could well send you home for a change of undies.

I agree with Ekka, if you're gonna go top handle, even if you're only gonna use in on occasion, go Stihl. The 192T will handle all your small jobs, and the 200T will take care of everything you throw at it on a daily basis.

Oh, how's that saw runnin Ekka?

I've got an "understanding" with my saw shop and I can take orders if any of you blokes want something.

Who was it that was asking about a 660? I think I deleted the PM on accident...get back to me.

Thats true, we all know the 200T can take it all thick and thin. But for $100 bucks I gotta atleast try it... Might actually be a good palm saw once the consumer bar n chain get thrown out...

Hmmmmmm? Palms, now that's not fair! There aren't many saws that will handle that mongrel stuff and live for very long.
I have to admit, the chain is fairly crappy but what do you expect for under a hunderd Dollars? Still, for it's expected use and the people who only use it occasionally (or tend to drop it out of a tree, back the ute over it etc.) I rekon it's OK.
For serious work, I totally agree, buy a Stihl!

Running? It's so pretty I cant bring myself to getting it dirty.

Many palms I cut I can almost cut them right down with the 200T providing the heads aren't too fat and dont need disecting.

I had an echo 350T, not a bad lil saw, was my palm saw but after getting these 200T's from USA bugger it, we're pro's and deserve the best.

I pretty much toss out a 200T and 440 every year or so, such is life, and I dont give a shit either. If your business cant factor in replacing some $800 chainsaw best you go do something else. Nothing but the best for me, stuff rooting around with inferior shit! I'm a pro, end of story.

Ha

I remember reading a while back that they were posting huge profits!

Interesting business model.
  1. Produce cheap crap with a 2 year warranty
  2. Sell it for peanuts in Bunnings
  3. Pocket all the cash for 18 or so months
  4. Fold up when all the crap comes back for return in 2 years.

....Ive got 3 of these (1 from 4 years ago) the others are 2/3 yrs old.
All muff modded and ear and tach retuned (NO DYNO).
I use them for palms - they are plastic - they dont corrode!!!

they are marginal at best out of box, with muffed and stihl chain they are better than a 192. and they weigh F-all. The only thing they seemed to struggle with was a big ficus... i put that down to them gumming up so much.

but yeah, def throw away item, i just look after my gear really well. (better than someone - ) and she gets a little cross too when i pay so much attention to my gear :/

edit: not actually a GMC but looks just like it.
