Default Standing dead trees

So, we had a forester come by our camp for it's annual tree survey and he noted about 30 or so dead trees standing close enough to high use areas to warrant being cut down.

They were mostly Jeffery pine and White fir and either newly dead to maybe five years gone. The largest dbh was about 38" (95cm) and the tallest about 115' (35m).

I wanted to cut these down for practice and to see what the years are doing to these trees in terms of decay. There were no major structures or places that I had to be careful of in case a tree crumbled or fell the wrong way and I have to say that there was a bunch of limbs and debris falling from the older trees as they fell apart before they hit the ground. Then again the newly dead ones were standard in the way they fell.

I have been felling trees most of my adult life and it was good to have the opportunity to try out these types of trees. This will help me make better decisions when I encounter a dead tree in the future.

You get any pictures of this event?

What about clean up, just leave it there? It's a right bugger raking up after felling dead trees.

I have one video and a couple of pictures.
I fell the trees away for the most part from the camps sites and like most of the forest areas out here, they are completely mismanaged so there are a huge amount of downed trees laying about.
The trees that are across paths and in campsites were bucked up and waiting for camp staff to move off to the side hopefully to be used as firewood.
