Just seems that council trees get hammered.

WTF that tree will just die leylandii dont grow from brown wood once lopped they die, idots, another case of complete ineptitude by an ill informed council they will have to take that out in the next month or so before it falls over.
i spent 2 years sorting trees for cctv and that was never an option if it was completely in the way we took it out but i have thinned trees, reduced trees, done directional pruning all to keep the cameras free to see but that is a farsical attempt by an untrained, uncaring so called proffesional.

Also, why do a job twice?

If the tree is marked for removal later then why not just remove it now? Why leave that abomination? Why if you are already at the top not just chunk it out or drop the spar/barrel and get on with it? ....

... Because the remove later part was thrown in now as a defence for getting caught out perhaps.

And informing "orgs and groups" of the pruning and gaining their acceptance doesn't validate crap work, I bet most of those "orgs and groups" wouldn't have a clue what proper pruning was anyway.

So true, i have found that most orgs are good at covering up their members cock ups and lack of training.

I was more so referring to the greenie groups that save trees etc that the council consulted with.

Quote:
District Council spokeswoman Claire Faun told Burnham-On-Sea.com the work had been pre-planned and agreed with local organisations.

She said: "We consulted with Burnham and Highbridge Town Council and the Highbridge in Bloom group."
Many of these groups have members who aren't arborists, often I find myself educating them to proper tree care, after all how you cut a blooming flower in a greenhouse or nursery has little to do with care of a cypress tree and how you prune it. So telling a "bloom group" you're pruning a tree and them saying "that's OK" doesn't mean anything and it's no ticket to ride the hack train as we see here.

So why do the council think that talking to a load of grey haired flower arrangers about tree care best practice is a good idea?

You know Roller, we see Hamilton in NZ hacking trees, the home of decent trees and an arb college etc.

UK too, you know Judy Fakes here back in the early 90's or perhaps late 80's actually went to UK to get some grounding on decent tree practices.

No shortage of knowledge, refined institutions and endorsed career paths ... but the crap just goes on and on and on like everyday is a new one with no history.

Just wears long time operators down, and the noobs/gypsies with their "better to get paid for hacking than walking away" doing the work.

Just continually amazes me how an industry can be so full of shit, top to bottom!

With the recession, its only getting worse over here, with redundant builders etc hacks are now 10 a penny, saying that you'd expect a council to know a darn site better....
