I will have to get out at some point today and get a few pics of the Oak for ya guys. Has real bad decay at base of trunk. I would say for it's hight, it's on the last leg for being climbed.

I remember doing similar once and saw what I thought was a tree root and cut it with the saw ....

It was the mains water pipe. Huge geyser.

The trees had stuffed the pipe and the slack azzed plumber just put a new polly pipe in above the ground, over time it got covered with tree debri etc and looked just like a root

Fly fishing, by far the best way to catch em. More pleasing when you get a take. More of a scrap as well, I love the playing to get the buggers in. You just don't know what size fish you're gonna get, 1lb up to 18+

Do you fish Ekka?
The 2 reservoirs I fish are Fly Only but the other 4 you can use spinners. So long as the fish are there they'll go for them quite readily. But Fly, that's a different matter. You gotta know what's hatching and when. Not mastered that bit yet. I went through changing a dozen flies just to catch 1. Sneaky little blighters are on the bottom still, too cold. But I could go on all day about that. Am suffering today from it, 9 hours of it yesterday.

Yeah I surf fish occasionally, but that's different. Haven't been for a long while now, should get the gear dusted and go for it.

Back in Adelaide I used to fish with spinners in the reservoirs (illegally) and get perch and red fin. Only ever got chased once by the ranger dude but got away.

Used to fish the Murray river but that got pretty slow and infested with that carp crap.

I've only mucked around with a fly set up, Your arm and shoulder would be knackered after 9 hours of it ... man I would have packed it in sooner than that.

We had a trout farm nearby too, was only $1 per fish back then after you paid the $10 entry fee (bag limits apply). They were good eating size trout but no fun, thered be like a fight over which fish would get on ya hook, like piranha the water would stir up and bang you got one! Slimy buggers they are.

When I was in NZ I'd have liked to stay down Tahpoe to fish that lake with some locals. Some great freshwater fishing in NZ. I bet their saltwater fishing's good to.

I was sitting in a tinnie fishing Wave break island at the Southport Spit when the Shimano show offs arrived with their flat bottomed boat and fly gear. They started flicking near the rock wall, wet lines, sunk maybe 3 to 5', they cleaned up ... took a swag of queen fish, here's us 50' away not getting a bite! Just shows there's more to it than a hungry fish.

Yeh, we got them wardens too. "Water Watchers" or "Bailiffs". The poachers over here have hammered the rivers over the past 10 years, that's why I don't do the rivers any more. Don't get me wrong, my grand-dad taught me how to poach, but it was one for the pot. Now, I would love to have the chance of getting wet and have the poachers head under water, but they know how I feel on the matter and won't let me "In the club".. reckon I'm too vigilante..

A private trout farm where the snobs go to fish, is stocked with loads of the buggers and I mean big... You pay ?100 entry and any fish caught is ?1 per lb. and every 1 caught is a kill. Thats one expensive day. It used to be open to the public years ago but closed down. Shame really, coz, as a kid, that's where I first seen Fly fishing and was always wanting to try it. My dad said it was a waste of time and money. How wrong he was....

You get all the Shimmano gear guy's here too. It's so funny watching them with all the gear AND NO IDEA.. I'm cheap and the gear I have gets the fish, so what's the point. The most expensive part of my kit is a reel that cost me ?70. And you see the prats with ?400 ones who still can't catch the fish..... Beats me.
