Sorry to hear about your Groundie. I had a driver take himself with a shotgun almost 2 years ago. I still think about him all the time. Thoughts & prayers are with you guys and the family.

Thanks for the support guys.

Toxicology came back negative. Apparently he mentioned having a headache before going to bed. Sounds like an anneurism.

The memorial service was really nice yesterday.

I feel your loss. Hope things are going to be ok with his family. I didnt know him but heres a poem 4 u to keep your base. Stand still. The trees ahead and bushes beside you
Are not lost. Wherever you are is called Here,
And you must treat it as a powerful stranger,
Must ask permission to know it and be known.
The forest breathes. Listen. It answers,
I have made this place around you.
If you leave it, you may come back again, saying Here.
No two trees are the same to Raven.
No two branches are the same to Wren.
If what a tree or a bush does is lost on you,
You are surely lost. Stand still. The forest knows
Where you are. You must let it find you.

Arborjockey,

Just copied the poem to my computer. It's perfect. Thanks for that.

The guy was actually quite a poet, I never knew it till I saw the huge binder of stuff he'd written at the memorial service. They're gonna try to publish alot of it and set up a trust fund for the kids.

Other than that...
saw two great movies in the last couple days:
"I am Legend", and "Definitely, Maybe"

I'd suggest either of them to anyone who wants to see a good flick.

Lady called and asked about having her palm transplanted cuz she heard "that those things were worth some money"
I almost gave her Ekka's number so he could educate her on the exact worth of her crappy palm, but decided not to...

Looks like it'll end up being a removal
Since I'm sure noone else is gonna want her palm either.
Now I see what Ekka was going on about with that stuff, it's actually pretty funny when it happens to you. (well the first time at least)

I remember at least 2 of those... vids are good and all, but what I was really interested in is looking back over the bore-wing cuts.

Is there a such thing as a modified bore-wing for dropping pieces directionally? I was guessing that if you tried a typically notch you could just bind it.
Depending on the area I might be able to drop the head out of it and then the rest in just a couple pieces, but wasn't sure if the bore-wing could be adapted to that or if there's a different cut for that.

I went and bought a truck the other day, a Toyota Dyna 150, 1994 with 198,000km on it, for €4250, seems an awful lot, but they do cost a mint here, high government taxation you know!
Went to the builders yard yesterday and got .94 tonnes of sand and .86 tonnes of gravel and 4 sacks of cement on the back and it did fine.
I think I was 160kg overweight (1800kg max load) but it pulled well.
Went to the job, started to mix concrete and the heavens opened, so went home. Anyone got a DYNA?

Gutless? It is the first Dyna for me, engine is 2779cc with 1800kg tare, yours sounds a bit heavier than mine so maybe the engine had to cope with a bigger load and didn't match up.
They are reliable though aren't they?

I got a Yota 4x4 pickup with almost 300k on it, Clementine and showing no signs of retiring.

You know, I ve been in a huge funk for a month now with 3 major flues and haven t been sick previously in 5 or 6 years. Yesterday had to pull of the road bcs of dizzy spell.

Then, got to the job and had to climb an uprooted black locust leaning towards a nbor s house and roots right out of the ground on opp side. Maybe 75 feet tall. There was one tree opp the lean to tie to, but it could have heaved sideways easily. Had to lower top shocking the root mass too.

Had to do it bcs customer/HO is manager of golf country club that is old estab client.
Climbed up in top and it is wanging side to side. Would have def gone down w out rope in it and appeared it might anyway swinging sideways. Roped 5 huge limbs and wasn t really scared but thought I might die on this one.

Everything went ok w top and chunked down, ......but felt so incredibly alive after getting on the ground! Had this feeling a thousand times but the gut charge never wanes. Man, I felt so alive after that. Eleven hundred $ just added to the glow.

Howdy Clemmy,

mate you usually cant go wrong with anything that has a toyota badge

Heres some dyna's from ebay here in aus. maybe you can watch them and see how much they go for?

1995 Toyota DYNA BU100R 200 5 Speed M Cab Chassis - eBay, Trucks, Commercials, Trucks, Commercial Vehicles, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 26-Mar-08 10:20:00 AEDST)

toyota dyna - eBay, Trucks, Commercials, Trucks, Commercial Vehicles, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 20-Mar-08 22:12:35 AEDST)

and heres one on autotrader

Trucks & Buses For Sale: TOYOTA DYNA on Trading Post Online...

They're not exactly the same, but it might help give you an idea.
Not sure of the currency conversion but it seems like you paid $8,000 approx AUD?

Not too bad a price if it's in good nick

I assume it's diesel? if so, as long as you change your oil/oil filters and your fuel filters regularly, theres no reason why you shouldn't get 500,000km+ out of the engine.

Regards Simon.

It s been raining here forever too. Flooding, etc. , maybe 7" rain. Today it broke out in a beautiful sunny 50 degree day.

We took out this uprooted walnut (if you focus you can see it sideways). Not a real big tree but pretty tall woods type. It was stuck in a maple but not well enough to climb the walnut. If you climbed the maple you d be nowhere. It was stuck in the top of a 2nd tree (hackberry) but too high in canopy to use that for anything.

It was down a 20 foot embankment that is hard to notice. An aerial truck was no good as lots of wires above so you don t go under and too deep in to reach and wires too high to try to go over to get there.

Perfect tool is my old 87 truck crane. 70' boom plus 20 ft jib (not needed). Not at all a difficult job w this set up and hook to ball. Can t see why you guys in Oz cannot use this technique.
