Closest comparison i have to that would be when i went ice fishing in New Hampshire. The actual temp that it was evades me but the jeep we were going to take on the lake was a frozen block of metal and rubber... battery stone dead, steering wheel frozen, finally got it started and had to wait a great deal of time for steering to thaw.. man SUCH A PITA!!! -Daryl

| I've had several people pick me up over the years. I noticed that I had a higher chance of getting a ride if I was wearing something nice, heh. I try to pick people up when I can, sort of a karma thing to return the favor. Cept usually only if I'm packin. I guess it's kinda sad, but I don't usually take the chance otherwise. It's only gotta be that one time you try to help someone out and it bites you in the ass that completely turns you off to helping anyone else out ever again. When I was driving back across the country, I picked a guy up in texas and dropped him off on the western side of Arizona. Nice enough old guy, even though he was crazy as a loon! Was muttering about lights in the sky and the government spying on us with satellites and secret military bases and such correlating to markings on the road. I dropped him off at a gas station, bought him a map, circled where he was, showed him how to get to where he was goin. Had three sleeping bags in the van, so I gave him one.Sometimes I wonder what ever happened to him.

| I'd have to agree. That takes some real talent and just a bit of insanity. I wrestled with a 4' horn shark in San Diego bay on a night dive once. Only did it cuz a friend was video taping. We watched the movie the next day where I worked in a dive shop and I didn't realize the size of the mouth on that thing, or that it was trying to bend around and bite my arm off... Darn thing really wiggled!!! After a min or so I was afraid to let go of it, but when I did it took off pretty quickly. It's no small wonder that effing with wildlife can get you killed. lol. I leave the jellyfish alone.... they sure are pretty to look at up close though! Truly amazing. I've toyed with large crabs and octopi, gotten inked, and stalked by a 12' mako while spear fishing. You really get the idea ingrained in you that you are in *their* territory. Poor steve was toying with fate and it finally caught up with him. God rest his soul though, he sure was a funny guy.
