Anyone know if planes any good to mill?

A little overcast in the morning but sure heated up.
You can mill it, it is fine grained and has a look like silky oak when quarter sawn, very pretty but has the same drawbacks as silky oak, won't stand up to weather or insects. drying it out might be a headache if you have high humidity and don't have a kiln room big enough, but it is very attractive timber...very good looking stick at the end of the job.

By the way what was the reason for the TD? Not leaves in the gutters I hope!

London plane is similar to sycamore. I don't know if it's good lumber.

Now, did it bust because ...

1/ friggin speed bumps
2/ mounted a round-a-bout
3/ collected a silent copper
4/ reversed it over that bitch ditch or curb too hard
5/ blew the tyre off dropping onto rim and mounted the gutter
6/ forgot to hitch it up correctly and it drove off on its own
7/ just busted, wear and tear

well, howd I go?

What it was Ekka, was metal fatigue, this chipper has gone through the mill I kid you not,I have rebuilt impact bed on the feed shoot, shatered the original,so I made the new one out of much thicker section, just to mention another mod I done to this machine,I thought it looked a bit strange when we left the job and I got under it and had a look, but it looked good,at the piont of failyer one section has surface rust on it so it's been cracked for a while but the rest of the break piont is bright and crystaline so it just let rip.It was a good one no injury to persons, just to my pocket and the inconvience of it all. First job in the mourning is to bolt it all back together again and strait back to work to catch up.I'd have to put it down as poor design...wear and tear

That's what happens with many machines from the vibration, how many hours on it?

My Kanga blew a hydro hose today ... bugger me, I never knew how far oil could spray and how fast it comes out ... lucky it happened with only a few logs left in the house.

Oh yeah, I made a video of what I did today but I'm too shagged to edit it. Big tip, even a 18" chipper couldn't handle a travellers palm ... shute blocked approx 10 times!

Chicken and pork, 2 meats they reckon when under cooked can make you crook. Lets face it, have you ever been asked if you'd like your chicken ... well done, medium or rare.

Also, I saw on some TV show that this is a common easy problem. You prepare the chicken on a board and later cut up some salad on the board and the raw chicken juice can make you crook. So wash up everything and no cutting raw chicken then cutting salad etc.

Did you maybe take a drink from a tap or hose?
