Took a boat ride up Indian Arm today to remove a dozen fir on the side of a granite slope/cliff. At the top of the rock wall, we were about 70 meters above the water. A few of the trees were in the 120cm+ diameter range and over 60 meters tall. Had a set of hydro lines as well as a framed house at the bottom near the water. One three meter piece made it all the way to the bottom (not near the house); it hit a cedar of about 60cm and blew half the base of the tree apart (rot). Wish I had the camera today.

Hey, got a big tip for ya.

I carry spare keys in my wallet which is usually on me, so if I lose or lock in etc I got access to a spare.

I freak when I lose my phone! Get some-one to ring it and try find it ... man when it's a deathly silence then you worry.

Hi,
Just remember if you do lose your phone it's only a inconvience as you can have the phone company transfer your number to your new phone, Even pay as you go cards so all the good faith built up in the number is not lost!! But it's a pain when you start to realise the hassle you have to thru!

Being a general contractor my phone is vital in my profession. I have found that by having the ability to access the web w/ your phone you may also have the ability to be able to "backup" or send your phone contacts to your phone service provider?s web site. This makes it VERY convenient to "download" your contact to any new/replacement phone for your provider.

Hope this may be helpful to others i KNOW it has for me. My phone hold 600 contacts and currently 405 in use and 195 free spots!

Hi All,
As you blokes know we as a rule don't work in the rain, Boy did we break that rule today! I'm sitting here in my dressing gown bloody freezing from being drenched to the bone, John and myself split up today so we could keep on track with our scheudule, Me I ground out three stumps in the pouring rain, John's still out fighting his way through the day. It's black and threatening in Sydney between heavy showers.

Man o' Man today was day from ... he**

i also have a landscape Co and this time of year we do TONS of fall clean ups. so this am i head outside (in the rain) to get the rack body truck emptied so we can get back to work w/ empty truck. I have had a string of bad luck. Today was icing on the cake. I got my rack body truck (2wd) stuck in my back yard I was dumping leaves and the truck just sank.... so after diking around w/ that from 930 this am I finally broke down and admitted defeat and called in a favor w/ a tow truck buddy...LOL I Finally got to go to work at 230.So I get that out and wash it down then driving to meet my weldor the front brakes all a sudden are metal on metal.... I am like WTF what else?!?!!? So I get pads and come home and change those. OH.... 3 days a go I had the truck PACKED to the gills w/ shi* in the bed and a highly over weight trailer.... everything was fine. The very next day, I have a completely empty truck, I stop back at home to get a blue tarp and as I approach the house I apply the brakes and can you guess??? Right to the floor the pedal went. A line rotted out so I had to replace that.

anywho...not bad 1hr 20 mins setup to clean up including test drive DONE brakes. not to mention we all know what happens to wheels that are not removed for a long time. yup the seize to the rotor. nothing a BFH couldnt take care of!!

Phew Long day..time for some chinese food some TV and BED here i come...LOL

Thanks for reading that was a little much to get off my chest.

Sounds like bad luck and rain all round, day 2 here of rain.

I was up with the sparrows and outta here 6.15am to get to first job and set up by 7am.

Dark skies, not good and all me stuff in the back of the ute. Tree down start stump grinding now 8.30am and PISS DOWN.

Pissing down go to tip, empty etc etc all gear wet and I'm drenched, churn other jobs to another day.

But it's flamin cold here, unusually cold for the time of year, I mean I'm shivering, it's maybe 16C or so.

More rain forecast too, all my stuff is drying in the shed. Hope some went in that useless dam out west.

DBS, hows this pic of my Kanga getting bogged a while back, luckily there was an excavator to pull it out ... often!

That's a nice summer temperature here. It's pouring out now and I can't wait for it to get down in the 2C-4C range so I can wear some rain-gear without sweating to death.

I'm heading to Mexico for a month and couldn't imagine working there in 30C. The few days of the year it does get that hot here, I'm off on the grass with a beer. Oh, it's too nice a day, I'm not working!

I'm with you Daryl you gotta love this modern technology.
With my new phone i can take photos at quotes then email them straight home to our computer.
That way theres no confusion when it comes time to do the job.
Helps with those quotes you did a month ago, and when they ring you have forgotten all about it.

Also great for getting photos when your in the hospital emergency room having your arm stitched back together.
