Bougy sucks big time, damn crap will run up the top of a 100' tree here. Very dangerous lowering if it's not cut and rips a length over you especially the neck ... should ban the crap!

They have a bambino variety flowers well and doesn't get like a tree.

Gone are the days of dousing them in petty' then flicking a match ....

On another side note, did my first climb yesterday in my new steel shank boots... Beautiful, absolutely beautiful. You could feel that there was something there, but no pain what so ever. Now to try em' up a palm...

Interesting day today.
Did a pruning job on a Nicholi and a Syd Blue gum, 1 and a half hours after an hour drive to the job at Rose Bay.
Broke an axle on the tower on the way home at old South Head Rd Bondi, busy intersection. Had to be towed to parts suppliers at Arncliffe, bought used drive axle and put it in.
Stumbled out of truck and cut my leg on piece of oxy cut chassis laying around, not badly, buy didn't need that as well.
The tow was hairy as the tower weighs 14 tonne and is very top heavy. I was cacking myself that it would roll over on a corner. Luckily the tow operator (Retriever towing) was an older guy who was very careful.
End result- Pruning job $480 less Towing $504 and Axle $550.
Shoulda gone fishing!
Anyway, ready to do battle again tomorrow and no one was hurt.

Bloody hell!

So often people think ya making a fortune, but they have no idea of the costs and overheads.

I had a Dosko 20hp grinder, was grinding some bugger ficus stump, hit a bad root and the whole machine jumped forward and stopped. The large root stuck in the wheel. Bent the shaft yada yada yada and $1500 later I was running again.

Blew a hydro hose on the Kanga, raced around to the Pirtek shop, I took old off and fitted new and they reckon they were doing me a bargain at $200 for 2 hoses.

It never ends, saws, ropes, gear etc etc etc but jeez, you made $480 in 1.5 hours mate.

I think the industry average is 18% profit for 3 man crew with chipper etc.

Ekka,
We brought the boots thru BOC, It started with me buying steel blues as I like their comfort, And me being Me, I had to ask did they have them with steel shanks, And the girl replyed I will find out, She rang the company up and they said they would make them up for us, And about two months later we got a call saying there ready.
Picture is piontless as they look like Steel blues.
Hope this explains it a bit better.

Hmmm, none of the Steel Blues fitted me though.

Too narrow, but I certainly got zero help from the bimbo that served me!

A hot and very humid day (and long!) today tried to drink heaps of water but judgung by the headache I've got not enough!!! Off to Charters Towers and Hughenden tomorrow expect 37+ and 41+ respectively but we won't be doing much hard work (though I will be climbing my old friend!!) so heat shouldn't be a biggie.

Wish we would get some of the rain Eric's had down South

This stuff gets my goat. Its exactly why the tree industry should be charging so much more than it does. I try to push the boundaries but not for no difference, i believe we give good value, but today i did a quote for $1045 in a top street in the 2nd wealthiest suburb in Melbourne and she says " oh your way too dear, i've already got 2 quotes, $550 & $380"

Just because these guys dont realise they're running at a loss yet doesnt mean everyone should.
