Question in search of a definitive tree guide

Hi guys, I'm in search of a good tree ident book for queensland and north New South Wales or The East Coast or even The whole continent!

Here in the UK we have the black covered "Collins Tree Guide" which every decerning tree man owns a copy of, but during my travels in the Sunshine state last year I found that I only new 3 or 4 species and had to use several different books for ident purposes. 1 book would have some species but not others some would have just have diagrams/pictures of single leaves, which is ok if you have some idea but as I was plunged back to the level of ident novice! It would be nice to have some information included as to characteristics of the tree as a whole or info on specific suseptibilities of a species for example.

Any help or opinions that you guys can throw my way will be greatfully recieved.

Tough one for sure.

I have one for around here that's pretty good.

Wild Plants of Greater Brisbane put out by Queensland Museum, available at QBD and most libraries.

Hmm. Prolly tough to cover the imports but u could try the nCSIRO. They have Euclid which cover all Eucs and Corymbias etc.. and a mate ahs their Acacia (wattle) proggie says its grouse. In pom speak that woudl mean its jolly good old chap!!

No disrespect mate, just some Oz humour. I reckon the problem we got here is how many invaders,in trees, we got!
