Here's a picture (from Google Earth) of where Del Norte is, it should "point" you in the right direction.

You can see a picture of Del Norte on this link. It's too large to load here.

I have explored that exact area and did not see Del Norte. I even explored a good amount of the area around it. It's to hilly to be the Grove of the Titans also.

If that was put there by Vaden, then I know it's his style to post misinformation, so I wouldn't trust it.

I guess I could have missed it, but I was being pretty careful.

There is a lot of misinformation out there on these trees. A ploy by the tree huggers. I was told by some Humbolt state guys when I was there that Hyperion is not really the tallest redwood. There is a lot of information on the web that says that the Grove of Titans is not in a flat area, and on a shallow sloped hillside. Vaden used to have a good map of the target location until he found them. Then he joined the cult of misinformation greenies. For some good reasons, for sure. These trees get trampled by throngs of gawkers. I have seen groves in Big Sur and Big Basin with the roots trampled down badly. Not that this will kill them; we have a gravel road here next to a string of tall redwoods (140-160 feet) at my brotehr's place.

It gets cold up there north of the Arctic Circle in winter. Cold as, in Aussie speak. And yes, on he web at the AS site, the guys were all trying to get the SawWitch away from the Troll (similar to my trying to get you to move here to Oregon ). Sadly she died over a year ago and the Troll (SawTroll who posts here from time to time) is a widower. I had some good conversations with her before she died. My family is from Norway, south of where she lived. I started the SawWitch meets Tarzan stories to warm their spirits in the dead of winter a few years ago. Again, over on the AS site, back in the day. They were in the steaming jungle of the Congo, on safari. A love trinagle was to unfold, as it were, not a menage a trois. But alas, the SawWitch died and I stopped posting those stories.

Scott, are these real people? I'm a bit confused.

If they are real people I'm sorry for making a joke ..like, if someone really did die.

They're real ... just got you know, unusual member names.

The saw people probably get into more fights than the tree huggers, whose got the biggest piston, most revs, smoothest port etc.

On AS we used to get into some real scrapes. Husky vs. Stihl vs Dolmar wars all the time.

Yes, the SawTroll and SawWitch are/were real people. Niko and his wife live/lived up in Tromso, Norway. SawTroll still posts here on TW. His wife died of complications following upper spinal fusion surgery. ;(...

No problems though, you cannot have known about them or her death here on TW. Some of us are on several tree butcher forums, and we have known each other for a long time.

Well, this may put Vaden's panties in a twist, but I have discovered the Grove of Titans and have created a website to reveal its location to the public and to post lots of pictures.

Grove of Titans

Now anyone can visit the Grove.

Great website ....

.... some will have their knickers in a twist, but that really is their problem.

Perhaps now they might do something about preservation and reduction of compaction.

Good work, well done.

I hope someday to visit these beautiful trees. In the meantime, I fervently hope adequate protection will be given to these and other Titans -- to ensure their survival for themselves, and for anyone wishing to see them. There are many crazies in this world -- unfortunately -- that want to destroy beauty, to be able to say they were the ones, Can their efforts be averted?

Heritage trees seem to be most at risk......

Amusing. I hiked the Mill Creek Trail about 12 years ago with a group of off-roaders. The trees there are indeed huge. I dubbed it 'Big Ass Tree Park'.

The crazies aroud there are the tree huggers, so I would not worry about the trees.
