Thank you for your welcome. I have written quite a long article on the increasing area (1 football pitch an hour) of salt affected land in WA alone and the well researched (Bennett & George 1996) ability of salt tolerant River Red Gum to produce quality timber when grown on salt land. I am now trying to find a way, the formula, whatever, of the amount of carbon sequestration one could expect from River Red Gum plantation timber. Difficult to find data on number of trees/ha, what is it 800? If I can determine the carbon question the loop will be completed. In the US and Israel the trees are coppiced ever 10 years, so the sequestration cycle, above the ground, will vary. Any help appreciated. Roger |

Maybe get some info from Victorian Forests with their hardwood forests, I think it would be about as close as you'd get. Here's a link to help I found. AG0903 Dryland River Red Gum Forest Silviculture - Department of Primary Industries Also DPI NSW has this http://www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/__data/ass...aldulensis.pdf Also some research shows grasses played a more important role than trees in the MDB Soil salinity - cause Keep us informed.
