Is there anything you can do to keep squirrels from eating the bark on trees (mainly Siberian Elms)? Thanks for your ideas!! |

.22 rifle, squirrel traps, fall traps all are very effective, squirrels are very clever and will chew on anything you put in thier way fluffy rats. this might help Slow Cooked Squirrel recipe - All recipes UK

if the squirrels are climbing up from the ground, you could try cayenne pepper or hot tobasco sauce, but you have to keep reapplying. A metal guard around the trunk starting about 6 ft up for 4-5 feet stops them from climbing,

A galvanized metal guard that surrounds the tree with about a 1" radial spacing, and allows refitting as the tree grows; Hanging the metal on hanger bolts can work reasonably well, and the bolts can be extended with extension nuts, Don't use aluminum - their claws can grab on the climb this metal.
