Default portaledging trees

Good evening all
I am seeking opinions from those climbers that own or have used a portaledge previously. In particular feedback relating to:
1. Ease of aerial assembledge
2. Comfort/ Ergonomics
3. Quality/Durability

Black Diamond appears to leading with their online marketing. Other brands include Fish and Pika.
I am planning another Eucalyptus diversicolor climb and this time around I would like to check in for the night.

Many thanks
B rad

Hi B-Rad,
A Grammicci ledge is for sale for US $300., plus shipping. Another ledge has sold, and the US Post Office took almost two weeks to deliver it in country. If I sell this one, the proceeds from both will allow aquisition of a double wide from a local rock shop in Seattle.

Oh, OK, as to your question, the best feature of a ledge is that a single suspension point is all that is required. Compared to the Treeboat, which hangs from both ends, the ledge can be put in more places within the tree, although this point can be argued. The ingenuity required to set up is actually the funnest part, since there is actually something to DO, when rec climbing.

The ledge is self leveling, as opposed to the boat. Another perspective is that the ledge is less stable, flopping around under a pivot. Depends how you look at it.

ENJOY !

The Fish Econo-ledge has gotten great reviews. Good value. Easy to setup. Lighter than the BD.

Treeboats are too much work to level...besides, if you're over 5'6" you get a bent back in them.

Hey George, do you know if the Fish has a fly or similar cover?

B Rad, did you get a write up recently doing a climb somewhere?

Hey Ekka
Not sure which article. We've climbed some tall karri's recently down south in W.A. and I put together an article a few months back for ArborAge on the 81m recreational climb we did. Just returned from karri climbing last w/end near Margaret River, where we took the Cert. 3 TAFE boys for their end of year trip.

Always looking for something taller and to put non-arbs into a harness.
Get high - climb trees

Go to the Fish website to see if there's a fly.

Eureka makes a single wall tent that fits on the deck of most single PLs. The tent is called EXO???

Googling will find the answers.
