Ponciana tree problems! Taking out palms and planting something else. The Ponciana trees I planted are turning very pale green when in the ground, and almost yellow, but were fine and deep green in pots. Any advice? We have had a lot of rain here in Darwin... |

Damaged roots, lack of nutrition in the surrounding soils, very acidic/ alcaline soil, too much water i.e claybase or small hole dug, water sits in hole and tree drowns. there are alot of variables to consider, how long have they been in the ground? did you add a fertiliser when transplanting? which kind as these can cause as much damage as poison at times.

Garry, Thanks, many options! Roots were in very good condition, I planted it out after 1 year in a pot, it is only about 2 m tall. Could be too much water, very wet year in Darwin, and clay beneath topsoil. I planted a ginger a few metres away that refused to grow and they like water, and a bougainvillea a couple of meters the other way, it has refused to grow also and the leaves never get bigger than a cm wide, again, very yellow. Acidic soil maybe? Grass seems to grow fine! Jim |
