Default Poinciana problems

Hi, I have a Poinciana tree which is looking sick. For starters it is covered with round spots of split bark. However my main concern is a vertical mark/split in the the trunk with small ants coming out. I've put some ant sand around the area to try to stop the ants but I'm guessing it's a sympton of bigger issues. Could this be from boarers or rot? A lot of Poinciana's in my area seem to have problems with boarers and or rot with large branches falling down and revealing extensive rot. Any diagnosis and possible treatments appreciated. The tree is on the footpath, perhaps BCC could help me?

If the tree is on the footpath then report it to council and the problem is theirs.

every poinciana i've ever seen has had small black ants living in it. i've never noticed any ill affects from them but that mold or whatever from the vertical split can't be good. i've seen a similar yellow substance on one though. it was a mold introduced by a beetle. we had to take the tree out to avoid contamination of surrounding trees and it was a good thing we did as the cambium all the way around was completely black and reduced to a slime around the infection site.

my only advice is alert the authorities and don't walk under the tree.
