| Great idea. Sewn Runners -- CMI Corporation I just buy that 1" tubing in long lengths and make up my own tying it together in loops with a beer knot. ![]() Comes handy on big Cuban Royal palm fronds I cant get my hand around.

I didn't notice this thread untill now. I use my MS 200T with one hand too. BUT... -when operating one handed I make sure that the saw, even in the event of kickback can never ever touch any part of my body or gear. -when operating one handed, I wear these chainsaw cut-resistant sleeves that cover my forearm and elbow and a part of the upper arm. -When operating one handed, I always have a setup that allows me to get to the ground real quick with one hand. So never ever have to change anything about the setup, just unbuckle the flipline, and pull the knot or the handle of the descender. -any top handled chainsaw of mine is in mint condition, but ya'll already know that I do care for all of my gear. when something breaks, like the chainbrake system or chain catcher or something else, they go back into the van and go straight to a service center. But I have these critical spare parts box, wich allows us to service it on site for critical break-down parts.I have these parts for all of my saws.I have chain catchers, plastic chainguidance blocks, chainbrake systems, chains, a bar, .... -When blocking down, it happens that i cross over the bar with the forarm, in the event of not using the step cut. Protective sleeves are being used then. EVERY TIME... -I never operate one handed near the upper body or face. I never ever use a rear handle chainsaw one-handed, unless I simply have to hold it with the chainbrake on. I never allow a groundie to use a top handle chainsaw, that's why we use the MS 200 (regular, not T version) for clean-up on the ground. I do believe that a MS 200T can be used safely with one hand. When operated correctly, it can be great sometimes. I also believe, that it would be a good thing to ask for arb certification when the saw is purchased.

Q, thus far I've been rebuffed for wearing a green tee shirt with a big white star on the back... how do you manage to wear black while doing tree work and neatly dodge any public inflammatory remarks about your lack of bright clothing??? I was wearing bright orange chaps and a bright orange helmet and I still caught flak. Go figure. As far as asking for an arb cert when selling the 200T, that sounds like a nice idea for a "perfect" world. I bought mine on Ebay though!

nah mate, we wear whatever clothing we want over here... I've got the red pants on every time though....Should be enough. Reminds me of the time I went looking for a climber in a park and I couldn't find him. Eventually I discovered him when he started his chainsaw... Really dude, this guy was climbing in a woodland camo suit with a green climbing line. I discarded my olive drab climbing line the first time it went into the chipper with some limbs on them... Gave me a big scare when I got pulled of the branch, but luckily I was on a self advancing knot so I had a few seconds to cut the line. If I used aregular prussik at that time the result would have been disastrous. So bright climbing line and gear for me, but your not gonna take away my favourite climbing sweater, wich I've been using for the last six years.

This is an in interesting post, I too one hand with my 200t, even blind cutting while free climbing, hanging out on a limb by my knees (sometimes you do what you gotta do.) This reminds me of a story my grandfather told me of his adventures boar hunting while in S. America (I have a lot of stories.) He would sit atop a branch with a club while porters would drive a pack of wild boar down a path that led beneath his perch. At the right moment he would swing down by his knees upside down and strike his trophy between the eyes. I guess he could have used a big gun and shot it from a long distance, but what type of challenge is that, and besides, what type of inspiration would it have been to a young lad that was show he can do anything he desires if he puts his mind to the task. Life is full of risks, I know some of you smoke cigarettes, or are overweight, etc... you know how many standards you violate doing that? Anyway when I go boar hunting, swinging by my knees upside down from a tree limb, I'll have my trusty 200t instead of a club. However I might need to one hand it though if thats alright.

Think it's acceptable to use one hand when arm is at full reach and any kickback that may occur would be away from you. Would encourage beginners to use both hands on saw at all times, not only for safety but to improve work positioning. More you work with two hands on saw the faster and more competent you'll get. Only when full awareness and understanding of the saws behaviour, work positioning, individual wood types and potential hazards is reached, then i think it's upto the individual.

Ya'll caught me red handed there... The pic is from a few years ago... I remember that it was one of the first times we used the GRCS and I just spiderlegged and cut off a rather large dead limb from the tree. I had to communicate with the groundie wich was actually a pretty good distance away operating the winch from the base of an adjacent tree, and I couldn't hear him when wearing the muffs so I took them off. When this pic was taken the limb was still hanging in the line, but I decided to cut a section again because the cut wasn't good enough to my standards. The saw was indeed clipped in on the other side where I always carry it, but I guess that pounding on the crossover is irrelevant... The other points are true and ya'll can ride me for a few feet for it... Hey when I go down, I go down in style. And besides that, I gotta give you guys some proof that even I am not perfect huh... ![]() ![]() ![]()
