Thats spot on. Your left arm with a locked elbow will take the danger out of most kickback situations. One handing removes that protection altogether. This is totally aside from the risk of cutting your "other" arm.

I had my 141 kickback while one handing the other day.I just brought my other hand up and snapped the brake.Continued the cut right after that.I can howvere see how 2 hands give you more control but then again it is a rear handled saw.

I find it quicker to just use my chin to snap the chain break.

There are times when one handed chain saw use is safer than positioning for a two handed cut. I am aware of how kickback happens, and if the danger is present, than two hands are used. but i do use one handed chain saw use often. Production is never a motivator for one handed cuts, well may be sometimes.

I mostly use 0ne handed on my Oleo Mac. Like VL2007, if you are aware of the danger zone and keep it safe, then there is little chance of being caught out by a kick back.

Just read in anouther foram, where a climber was using one hand on the chainsaw and the other to hold the limb. His arms where crossed over one anouther, so when his saw cut through, it went up and cut off his other hand. After i read that, i find myself thinking more about where the saw will go after the cut. For me I one hand chainsaw it when pruning palms. My danger comes when the saw cuts through. It could swing down and hit my legs or other hand, so i think about my placement. It's only on that last frond that i would need to repositon for. Maybe i should re-think this.
