Soon we will have a new training package coming out in Australia, and it looks like they have removed cert2 and cert4 in arboriculture, at this stage. Don’t worry if you are currently doing a cert 2 or 4 you will be able to finish it under the current package (Extract from feedback) At a meeting of the NAAA on the 6th November 2009 it was agreed unanimously that the NAAA saw no need for a certificate 4 in Arboriculture as it did not relate to any specific career path. The NAAA encourages arborists that wish to gain improved management and business qualifications to undertake further studies in business or management either as stand alone courses or as a part of general horticulture studies (Certificate 4 in Horticulture). The NAAA acknowledged that the Certificate 4 in Horticulture may provide a suitable transition to a Diploma of Horticulture if 2 units from the mandatory units and or other units recommended by the NAAA are undertaken as a part of the level 4 studies, in accordance with the training package rules.
