Phill, Tell him worrying solves nothing and in over 80% of cases what you are worrying about doesn't happen anyway. ![]() Lets say it's normal, so grab a beer and relax. Lets say it's not normal, what can you do about it? Oh, nothing, so grab a beer and relax. ![]() When I say you cant do anything about it I refer to the wound, not tree health care, that should be a constant for all trees regardless of wounds. Could be likely that the wound has allowed and exit point of low pressure for stored sugars to escape ... but I'm sure the tree will be fine unless there's like 5000 wounds not just the one.

Sap flow at cuts/wounds is fairly normal in spring, How big/where are the cuts on the tree? ...and a Guinness over here please. |

Black Walnut exude a substance called juglone that is a natural herbicide. It kills or stunts the growth of many other plant species and thus gives the walnut a competitive advantage. This is how young walnut trees compete and survive in the wild. In domestic landscapes plant with at least a little trepidation. So you dont have to worry about this. ---------------- Richa Last edited by Eric Frei; 8th September 2008 at 08:53 PM. Reason: Links removed, no spamming! |
