Default Learning to Climb

When you aren't employed within the industry and are out in the sticks.

Books, DVD's, courses ?

Is this DVD good ?http://tiny.cc/n4F4z

I have to talk to Michael from THS in Sydney today or Monday, so I'll pick his brains too.

Any books you can find,CD, The tree climbers companion etc will give you the theory. Just remember to stay low and slow untill you become proficient. There are some vids in our video section that will help aswell.

I strongly recomend the fundamentals of general treework by Jerry beranek,i also recomend the tree climber's companion, and as always, you can't go wrong with someone who's been in the game for awhile.

Yep, What JayD said and more importantly what NG said,

Dont try it alone. Get someone with experience to point out where you might be going wrong. You dont know what you dont know!

Take it slow and double check everything. Especially if you have screw gates. I stick to prussick loops. Nice and simple.

Good luck

Thanks fella's, and Jay, I probably would've been banned on AS for that

I'll have to find out who climbs around here. I literally am out in the sticks, although I was surprised to find a company 30km away with a Level IV arborist on staff.
