Default kill roots

Our Chinese Weeping Elm tree was damaged in a storm and had to be remove. It covered 75% of our backyard. The tree removal company removed the stump, but not all the roots. A year later, we have little elm trees coming up everywhere. We've tried spraying the new growth with roundup. It doesn't kill them. HELP? I want to plant a new tree, but I can't until the elm is gone.

Use concentrated Round-up ( not diluted) and cut the suckers then swab them immediately. Really any glyphosate360 product should do the trick.

I hope there's no other ones nearby that people do not want to die as poisons can translocate in grafted root systems.

The neighbor across the street also has a chinese elm. Their tree is in their front yard, mine is in the back. Is that far enough away to safely use the Round-up?

Probably. What was the diameter of both tree trunks?

I had good results with elm sucker using MCPA Dicamba broad-leaf herbicide.
Spray on new growth in spring.
