Default An interesting request....

So here an email enquiry i received today.

Quote:
Message : We are the managing agents of a property at 123 XXXXXXXX Road XXXXXX which has a tree that is causing problems for the next door tenant. Our client has told us that you can apparently poison the tree by cutting all the branches off leaving no leaves just a bare trunk. Can this be done? If so can you quote to do same
?

Any suggestions for a response?

I was thinking, "What part of "Total Tree Care" do you not seem to understand"

That would be a good response to the idiot requesting that. Doesn't that sound though that he is asking for a pollard?

I wonder, if a R/E got some dodgy guys in and they committed malpractice pruning, the R/E as the managing agents would have overlooked their professional obligations and could face action!

I'm serious.

They better start knowing what the rules are, requesting professionals and stop feeding the cheap hacks by only looking at price.

Imagine if the R/E authorized pruning works at your rental property and the tree got fully butchered, I'd be suing them no worries. Do they hire unlicensed electricians, plumbers etc? Well, get with the program or get busted ... it's their responsibility to find out what the regulations and standards are.

Agree totally Ekka it is the same thing, just as we discussed in the insurance thread it amounts to negligent work practice and at the very least less than best practice, at worst a failure in duty of care.

Excellent point on the agents ekka. Went to a quote this morning for a gardener arranging the tree work for the body corporate at a commercial property. So its 4th hand info when im asked to lop 12 mature Casuarinas to below the factory roof height. Theyve been done like this before by someone maybe 8 years ago. The gardener understood when i explained things to him, but now hes gotta try n convince everyone higher up the ladder.

These R/E agents, Body Corps etc are often a waste of time, always crap work, done at lower end prices, slow payers. Gotta ask at the end of the day are they worth having as clients. The repeat work from several of em adds up over the year but.........

I think its worth putting up with the few i know from experience are ok, but new ones outta the blue with stupid requests like in my 1st post but NO

That's a classic, you should send that in to Kurt of Arborage Age.

No lie, 90% of the pruning quotes I'm asked to do are lop/top jobs ... it's friggin rampant here.

Like you said, too many involved, I like to quote the owner / decision maker ... the rest are just interpreters so write a lot down and hand over literature.

How often you spend half an hour with the wife explaining all this hooha about correct pruning, old man gets home from work ... "hey Jane, did ya get that quote from the treelopper, how much?"
