Hi, I'm a long time reader first time poster , I've been climbing now for a bit over 2 years and am starting to get interested in competition climbing but I can't find much information on the net to help me. I'm on the central coast of NSW and just want to know how can I get involved in the competition side of things. What events are there to take part in, how does the equipment scrutineering process work and what is the best way to train for this, I have just bought a friction saver so I can go to the local park and chuck a line up to practice. Any help would be appreciated.Nick |

Hi Sir nick, Vic TCC is coming up soon, 24-5th October. Why not make the trip down & get involved. Competition is open to out-of-staters or you could volunteer to help with set up etc to get an idea of how it all unfolds. |

2010 Victorian Tree Climbing Championship This entry was posted by Joe on Monday, 6 September, 2010 at Registration is now open for the 2010 Victorian Tree Climbing Championship, to be held in Warragul across the weekend of the 24th and 25th of October. Entry is available across four grades: Student Grade is for both male and female climbers who have not competed before and are currently enrolled in an arboricultural training course; female competitors are asked to enrol in the Women’s Grade; and the majority of male climbers will be taking part in the Men’s Open Grade. Only climbers with previous competition experience will be able to compete in the Men’s Masters Grade, which has a limited number of places available. Qualification for this grade will be based primarily on ranking in previous VTCCs, then on ranking in other ISA-format competitions. International and interstate climbers are very welcome to take part, and although only Victorian climbers will be eligible to take part in the Master’s Challenge, out-of-state competitors will in all other respects compete on a level footing with local climbers: you will be able to win events and take home prizes! In Sydney next July 2011 will be the international ISA ITCC competition. http://tinyurl.com/m7dc5a Come on down help as a judge hold a rope get the feel of the event. Thanks for all your replies, I downloaded the rule book the other night, I didn't realise how in depth the events are. Is the Sydney one open to new competitors? No way I'd be able to make the Victorian Tree Climbing Championship missus's birthday weekend lol.

| Dunno, they often have a rookie class to blood a few new lads so you.ll need to ask the organizers. The comp is a bit high in rules and regs so the climbers are very help full in showin any new starters the ropes. Offering to help the judges by holding stop watch or belay is a great way to learn.

Either way I'll be there helping or competing once it gets closer I'll figure out if a rookie section will be held and have a crack, the experience will be worth it, cheers
