Default INCREDIBLE, Home owner removal photos, the tower of terror!

This bloke has been at it for a couple of days now in the petrie area. This example of craftmenship is located in the rear yard behind 2* highset houses.
Don't know if scaffolding is his trade but he seems to be doing a "FINE" job. If you have got the time, the gear and the will it show what could be done.

Check out how he's now cantilevering out towards the other canopy.
Will drive past again in the next couple of days to check the progress. He seems to be doing it himself, as he was using the block to lift each extenstion up and then climbing down to tie more on.

Cheer Mike

Hi Rangitata,
Great pictures mate,You have to give him an "A" for effort, after going to all that trouble I hope he sucessfully takes it down without a drama, Workcover will probably up him for the rent if they spot him!...better him than me to close to those wires for my likeing, seen a similer post on AS like this, keep us posted on his progress or lack of it,
All The Best

Holy crap!

Looks like HV wires too.

How stable do tou think that scaffold will be taking a knock from the head swinging down into it!

A lot of effort but little brains.

That's a friggin corker!

Great pics and you even got him climbing up there.

I'd love to see progress shots, man I'd love to see how he goes cutting wood and it slams into the scaffold!

I think he's religious.

He's building The Tower Of Babel

Amazing, couragous, even commendable, but a total mystery. He's gotta be either pig-ignorant or has had bad experiences hiring tradesmen in the past.

You should print him off some of those pictures Mike, that would be something to show his Grandkids.

I'm going to have to take another look.

Busy with the wrong job though, should scaffolding buildings. Wonder what the total cost would have been, all the material, the hours. Ask him what he pays for his insurance.

Reminds me of the giant crane - big blue one - that they showed come down on the History channel. Anyone else see that episode on engineering disasters?

Came down with a big section of steel roof metal for a sports stadium. Killed some guys too.

Anyhow, it was a professional piece of equipment and still collapsed.

That's it - "Big Blue"

Reminds me of Big Blue, only this scaffolding looks like it has to have a weakness somewhere, that makes using it seem like playing Russian Roulette.

One of my crews went past this site earlier day.
Old mate has built the tower higher still and it now extends higher than the trees canopy.
Its appears also that a rigging block has been installed and the limbs are being lowered dierectly off the scaffolding frame.

No photos sorry, I am not going to be anywhere in that area today.

More news as it comes to hand. Mike Out

Quintrex, The scaffolding and tree is in the back yard behind the houses, hes miles away from any wires.
The wires appear closer due to the foreshortening caused by my 500mm telephoto lens.

Far out, we gotta have the Home owner Tree Removal awards going on here once a year - This one would definately win.

Here's 5 more pics, I went out there yesterday.

Only one neib home so here's the story.

Been at it 1 month, does around 3 hours a day on it.

He's a scaffolder alright.

Top level of scaffold has already been removed and he's working his way down the log.

2 trees right on fence line with side neighbour.

Scaffold is bolted to house.

He's lowering off the tree, the block is for hauling up/down scaffolding plus tools.

Good community spirit there and neibs have been up to see the view.

Just think if you had to pay for the scaffold hire for that job. Definately a trophy winner

All great news!

The guy sounds really good at what he does. If he were the inventive type he might come up with something that would interest our industry.

Good on ya Ekka,

Its good to get the full story

Glad to hear he is a scaffolder by trade, the thought of of someone hiring the gear and doing it themselves makes me shudder.

Cheers Mike

I think that he might not be doing the sign thing because then he would become more intersting to OH&S, the regulations for scaffolding are pretty darn strict, and although I'm not a scaffolder I have had to work with them on construction site in relation to protected trees, hias scaffold whilst probably very stable/strong and safe does not meet the regs in Qld, in fact even without signage they could fine him and stop him from climbing up there, its unlikely since you'd have to get an inspector out there and there's just too few of them to police the more serious breaches.

BTW you can get hold of the regs for anyone who's inclinded from here;

Ouch, lots of rules there.

Hey, the neibs said he wants to be famous, cars pull up all the time etc and he was wondering if he could enter the Guiness Book of records for something.

It'd be cool to catch up with this guy, I bet he'd give you a guided tour and full details.

Good idea, Ekka, sounds like a job for your helmet cam!!..if you get time it would definately give a different view to it all,one of your pictures looks as though he's left a log suspended or he was there lowering when you took your pictures.

Creative thinker!

Lance Wallace, an arborist from Milwaukee, is the one who got the video of Big Blue toppling. He's been interviewed several times for History Channel shows.

I'm curious...

For some reason, the pipe diameter of the scaffolding and fasteners, don't look like they would be rated for working at that height.

Anyone know if he stacked them higher than what they are rated for?

At least they look organized.
