I see he is making an effort but METAL scaffolding around POWER is a good idea why?I get kinda nervous when I climb out near and above lines but there ain't no way I would go up that scaffolding.Thats downright dangerous.

It's just the angle of the pic, the power wires are miles away.

Update on progress.

Went past yesterday, old mate has the scffolding down to approx 2 levels.
Tree is gone, no visible problems from the road.

Congratulations to "Old Mate" for thinking outside the square and getting it done.

Cheers Mike

That is one thing we don't know for sure

We do know the tree is a little the worse for wear though.

Do they regulate the construction of those things inside the city? Looks like if any of those pipes drops from that height into the houses below/nearby there will be a dead person somewhere other than the "operator' of the scaffolding.

Very good photos thanks guys.
I was thinking I was crazy for cutting my own trees but this guy wins the crazy awards!

I once saw an episode of the 3 stooges featuring curly Joe working on a plumbing job in a basement. It really reminds me of the same thing.

We have a habit in Europe of doing that, its called a pollard and unless its done from when the tree is young and then continued management throughout its life where starch builds up in the pollard heads it is considered bad practice by qualified arbs. But still commonplace where the public are concerned who want light, look at the light quality in the 3rd set of pictures.
