Default ID this red flowering shrub

Here's a hardy battler.

This shrub is around 7 years old, never been pruned or watered.

Looks great in flower, nice form, might be a good one to see more often. I cant put a name to it, not a calliandra.

Looks like Metrosideros sp to me the common one is Metrosideros excelsus NewZealand Xmas bush

Maybe, but the leaves seem different, glossy green with really pronounced drip tip. Metrosideros are more leathery and grayish/silvery.

No, definately not a coral gum.

I think it is in the metrosideros family, must be many like eucs.

I would say a "Pohutokawa" or from the Metrosideros family.

The Kiwi members should be able to help.

its found along aotearoa, nz, seaside towns .1 of the oldest species of pohutakawa trees is found in my home town of napier,on the east coast north island,approx one of the largest in nz,at 250plus years old, my kaumatuas =elders yous to say when the pohutakawa flowers are in bloom then it is diving time kaimoana=seafood is fat and ready for the pickin. we the maori people look at this tree as a sign of good harvest.hope this helps .
