I really love trees, and would love to start my very own tree farm, I would like to make it something big, like Arborday, only bigger, I am planting to many trees around my house, and its not working out to well, because we are running out of room, how would I start this tree farm, like should I go and by some spruce seeds, and plant them in the back of the yard, I do have room for alot of them in the back, how else would I do it? I could start my own website, but how would that work? should I plant seedlings, and sell them from my home, when they get 1-2 years old, how do I do about doing this? do I have to go to college for Botany? please let me know. ![]() ![]() Also do you think it would be better if I bought a greenhouse, and stuck it in the backyard, and just sold the seedlings for like two dollars a piece? and I also dont know what kind of soil they need? |

Cool idea. Studying Arboriculture and horticulture will answer most of the questions you have asked here. Please send in some photo's of what you have already done and perhaps a plan of your block shape along with notes regarding soil type. Personally I cannot help with North American tree selection but you have come to the right place to get world class advice. Perhaps Treevet or someone else with similar local experience could comment? |

Well lets see, need an idea of the planned planting area, maybe have your county extension agent do a soil test, usually free.lots of preplanning and having an arborist or a very good nursery owner on site will help you suceed.

Well, The years of pioneers are mostly over with matters like this. I'd start out with researching people already doing it nearby. Go visit, either as a covert recon or as an open I'd like to learn. Maybe they'll help, do a deal etc as you have the land, maybe not as you'll be a competitor. Here's a couple of methods for getting the ball rolling. Oh, personally I wouldn't go for ground grown specimens, go for pots, bags, burlap etc, irrigation system etc. ![]() tree farms Pocono summit, pa - Google Search http://www.google.com.au/search?hl=en&rls=GGGL%2CGGGL%3A2006-35%2CGGGL%3Aen&q=tree+nursery+Pocono+summit%2C+pa&btnG=Search&meta=
