| Well by now you all must be thinknig that I just keep asking questions related to trees but you see through this community I can feel so close to people across the world how know a lot about trees..so have just collected all my questions and doubts for you all. The thing is I got a palm tree yesterday. Now some say that we can plant it in a big pot, but others say that it is best to plant it on the ground. For planting too there are some special requirements like one has to mix ample lime to the soil as palm grows well that way. What is you take on this. First where should I plant it and how? |

| Is the palm already in a pot, or has it been dug up ? How big is it, what kind is it? Rule of thumb for planting... The planting hole should be bigger and deeper than the rootball, backfill the bottom to get the top of the rootball to the same grade as original Plant it no deeper that it was originally. Fill and firm 6" at a time Unless your soil it deficient, or overly clayey, there isn't much need for amendments Give it lots of water Cut off any dead or badly damaged fronds Monitor the crown, especially the heart leaf, it should remain full and upright. Drooping or colour change indicates a problem.
