Had a look at this palm the other day full of spikes,Very steep block with stairway up from garage as picture you can just see the top of the palm over the roof. A real nightmare in getting it out,let alone getting it down. How much would you put on it? or walk away and let someone else have it?

Big ugly butt on it too, don't stick your saw in that root shit at the bottom, I always write "cut down to top of root ball" etc cover my ass. Stump grinding nightmare to with the pool and what looks like rocks. Just cut low and flat, stick a pot on it. That's a crappy Washingtonia palm, they suck. Wait till you see the rake up mess of all those petioles (the spiky things on the trunk in criss/cross pattern). I'd also use foam to block into. I'd put $800, it doesn't have a dead beard and at least it's downhill not uphill to get it out. You could go as low as $600 but it's a shit job for everyone.

im with you there eric. its gonna be a shit job for everyone with the hill, pool, palms debris clean up. $700 for removal and no stump grinding, $850 with stump grinding including the basics, filling in the hole after the stump is gone. stump grinding is another story.

There is a staircase from the garage i don't think grinding is an option, its bigger than it looks in the pics and the paving isnt real thick more like tiles. I only get asked maybe once a year to remove a palm.

| Boards and foam on top. I use cheapo chip board from the tip recycle, $5 a sheet, gives about 1.5m x 1.5m spot to block into, unless the climber is a space cadet he gets it %100 of the time .... but those petioles will make a mess of the foams, and good foam is hard to find! ![]() I scored a magic bit the other day, queen bed size super thick and real dense, denser than a Kansas farm boy doing tree work.

You gotta know when to hold em know when to fold em know when to walk away n know when to run If you do the (crap palm) job you wanna count your money ($1500) while you're sittin at the table and make sure theres enough dough left to buy yourself a beer ![]() Seriously though, looks like a crap route from the tree to the driveway/street. Gettin it down is easy enough (without skirt) but getting it out will be no fun. Then do you chip or dump? We'd have to pay a fair bit to dump that round here. Then go clean all your saws out afterwards. Can your big excavator reach over n grab it from the block nextdoor, now that would be alright! Sorry, but i just hate palms....and hedges. ![]() |
